Summary
The Upfit/Assembly Manager is responsible for the daily operations and output of the department. Daily responsibility is focused on but not limited to safety, quality, production, leadership development, management of personnel, monthly metrics, culture, and company strategic goals.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare estimates, work orders, draft proposal specifications, and coordinate workflow within the shop.
- Prepare, Catalog, and Maintain Updated Cad drawings of the IAS product line.
- Oversee Inventory control, parts pricing and procurement, stock orders, data entry of parts and employee labor hours.
- Managing and monitoring project schedules and work processes for self and upfitting team
- Quality control, motivating teams, documenting progress
- Providing daily direction, coaching, and leadership to ensure department alignment with operational strategies and culture.
- Follow up during and after units are delivered to ensure customers are well informed and satisfied.
- Direct customer, service staff and sales staff interaction
- Understanding of business financials and goals (Share with service staff daily, weekly and monthly).
- Initiate morning meetings with upfitting staff to plan the day.
- Interact with sales staff to offer service support during presentations and trade shows.
- Maintain a successful working relationship with Siddons Martin Emergency Group, Industrial Apparatus Service, Pierce Manufacturing personnel and Local Service Venders.
- Playing a key role in implementation of new processes, equipment, and products.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manage assigned team/shop and serve as lead in direction and profitability as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must have knowledge of raw materials, production processes, QC, costs and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of products
- Experience within Fire and Emergency related industry
- Proven track record of success
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Exceptional organizational methods
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Able to control operation of equipment and conduct inspections of products and processes to evaluate quality
- Possess exceptional leadership and motivational skills
- Dedication to customer service and business success
- Ability to engage in and maintain positive relationships with employees and customers
- Computer skills: Must be proficient with Microsoft Outlook Email, Microsoft Word & Excel programs as well with any company provided software
Education and/or Experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- 5 Plus years with experience in an automotive service related industry
- Knowledge of repair principles and procedures in all areas of the Heavy Truck Repair Industry

The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to walk stairs and/or climb ladders. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
