Student Admission Officer

Currently we are seeking candidates for the position of Admission Officer/International Student Advisor who will also serve as the school's Designated School Official (DSO) for our international students. This position reports to the Chief Enrollment Officer and works collaboratively with the student affairs and academic departments.

Responsibilities:

  • Advise prospective students on the admission process and requirements, including F-1 visa regulations and documentation for international students; provide and coordinate crisis intervention in case of illness or serious legal, financial, or personal problems.
  • Review and evaluate student applications for admission and make decisions on acceptance or denial in accordance with university policies and procedures
  • Facilitate re-entry and cultural re-adjustment related to the student's return home or continued education in the U.S for international students
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all student applications and admissions data
  • Coordinate with appropriate departments to ensure that all documentation is received and processed timely in accordance with federal, state, and accreditation compliance
  • Collaborate with external organizations and agencies to promote the university and its programs to potential students
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to international student recruitment and admissions
  • Monitor changes in F-1 visa regulations and work with relevant departments to ensure compliance
  • Provide exceptional customer service to prospective and current international students, responding to inquiries in a timely and professional manner
  • Develop and conduct workshops, seminars, and outreach activities to assist students in developing educational and career goals.
  • Develop programs and services to ensure academic success of international students, including orientation, educational planning, acculturation, peer counseling, and tutorial support; coordinate with faculty on support systems, learning styles of international students.
  • Present individual and group orientation sessions; coordinate enrollment in degree or certificate programs and student progress with instruction and enrollment service staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in admissions or higher education administration
  • DSO/PDSO experience required; in-depth knowledge of F-1 visa regulations and documentation requirements
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively
  • Familiarity with computer systems and databases, such as SEVIS, with the ability to enter and retrieve data accurately and efficiently.
  • Multicultural communication skills evidenced by sensitivity to and acceptance of people from diverse cultures
  • Bilingual in English and Korean/Chinese preferred
