Scientific Drilling is looking for a Trade Compliance Analyst to work at our Houston Technology Center in Houston, TX. Scientific Drilling is an independent directional drilling and wellbore navigation, surveying and logging Service Company serving customers worldwide. As a Trade Compliance Analyst for Scientific Drilling International, you will provide support for all aspects of global trade, ensuring compliance with U.S. and foreign regulations. You will work with our Compliance Group to establish Best Practice global processes around product classification (import/export), licensing, technical data, recordkeeping, and auditing/reporting to ensure implementation and effectiveness of internal controls. Additionally, you will assist in advising management on trade compliance regulations, Special Duty Free and Savings Programs, initiatives, objectives, and associated risks while supporting Scientific Drilling International's business groups on trade related matters.

A working knowledge of and ability to apply laws and regulations related to global trade compliance is a necessary component of this position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, administer, and manage global trade compliance programs and associated controls.
  • Maintain proficiency on applicable laws and regulations issued by various government agencies and translate them into business compliance best practices.
  • Conduct periodic compliance trainings to ensure implementation and compliance with all applicable US and foreign regulations, as well as with Scientific Drilling International's policies and procedures.
  • Maintain third party compliance management (customs brokers, freight forwarders, agents, etc.).
  • Ability to determine licensing requirements, apply for export and re-export licenses, and conduct denied party screening.
  • Support with obtaining required Trade Compliance data for materials and maintain the data in ERP (SAP) System.
  • Support with maintenance and development of forms and processes to validate information used for international shipment including but not limited to values and updates in classifications.
  • Develop and maintain a compliant internal global recordkeeping and tracking system.
  • Support the Company's technical and business development teams with trade compliance requirements to expand on new markets.
  • Conduct regular internal audits and assessments on import and export shipments.
  • Travel may be required

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • 3-5 years' experience in global trade compliance-related position
  • Working knowledge of the U.S Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), including Denied Party screening, and U.S. Foreign Trade Regulations (FTR).
  • Knowledgeable in U.S. export license application process.
  • Experienced in Simplified Network Application Process Redesign (SNAP-R).
  • Experienced in the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE).
  • Knowledge of EU and other non-US regimes is a plus.
  • Strong background in global import/export classification, FTA, country of origin determination, etc.
  • Strong experience in Logistics and Compliance processes.
  • Experience with ERP (SAP) system
  • Ability to work within teams and independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written.
  • Proficiency of Microsoft Office (Specially Microsoft Excel) and web-based compliance tools
  • Customer focused, highly detail oriented, and adaptive to change

Education, Experience, Certification, and Training:

  • Bachelor's or Associate's Degree (Supply Chain, International Business, or Business Administration) preferred
  • US Customs Brokers License (LCB) preferred
  • Willingness to pursue further accreditations (e.g., CUSECO, CCS)
  • Relevant job experience may be substituted for education
