Purpose:
The Production Lead is primarily responsible to provide coverage for supervisor and foremen in their absence. Additional responsibilities include continuous and efficient operation of the floor during production. Leads oversee and supervise personnel during non-production times and assists the Production Supervisor as needed. They are responsible for helping maintain logs and documentation required as directed by management and participates in various areas to ensure the overall proficient function of the plant.
All new hires must provide documentation of at least the first dose of a vaccine on or before your start date, and be fully vaccinated within 45 days of your start date
Essential Responsibilities:
- All plant personnel have the responsibility to monitor and report any deviations from our Food Safety and Food Quality (HACCP & SQF) programs to your immediate supervisor.
- Frequently attend the floor during production to address issues impacting efficiencies, keep the momentum moving forward, and resolve any shortcomings.
- Take inventory for all production areas of caps, customer cartons, glue chips, corrugated boxes, tape and other production materials at the beginning and end of each shift they are covering and refill any shortages.
- Have fillers inspected after CIP and 6 hours prior to the next start-up time.
- Have all fillers ready in advance for flexibility.
- Oversee all start-up production processes.
- Verify and sign off on all pre-flight lists, production logs and supporting documentation.
- Relieve filler operator as needed.
- Participate in all changeovers assisting filler operator and case packer as needed.
- Verify correct product information with all change overs.
- Frequently monitor that the correct code dates, customer bar code information and customer cartons are being used throughout production.
- Direct operations.
- Direct any changes in production schedule.
- Direct operators moving of trucks and trailers without leaving the floor.
- Monitor rework pallets, animal feed pallets and any other potential milk loss area.
- Promotes communication between operators throughout plant.
- Works closely with Supervisors and supports them as needed.
- Keep current with email dialogs and abreast of current information.
- SQF Support – Responsible for development, training, implementation, and compliance to the SQF program.
- Rework – Opening cartons or gallons of milk and dumping the milk into the rework tank. Adding bags of powder to make slurry for Cali products. Testing rework or slurry in the lab and reporting pallets used for rework.
- Leak Detect – Checking gallon jugs as they come out of the filler for leaks and pulling leakers off the line and boxing for rework.
Knowledge & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Working knowledge of production equipment, policies and procedures and solid understanding of internal software programs.
- Experience with Computers and data entry preferred.
- Detail oriented team member with a strong, honest work ethic with ability to handle multiple tasks daily.
- Ability to pass and maintain state forklift safety certification.
- Good time management and multitasking skills.
- Must possess excellent and effective communication skills.
- Trouble shooting, problem solving and corrective action planning a must.
- Must be proficient in Operator I, Operator II and Operator III positions.
Physical Requirements:
Must possess the physical ability to work the entire shift on the plant floor working in a cool, wet environment with temperatures ranging between 34-38 degrees will be a requirement. Standing, walking, climbing, repetitive bending, repetitive stooping, repetitive reaching with arms and repetitive grasping with hands and fingers. Must have the ability to lift up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Must be able to work safely in a fast-paced environment working around production machines, warehouse equipment, forklifts, large trucks, and tankers.
