Summary
Under general supervision, provides program support related to our college and career program; provides relevant and challenging classroom and work-based learning experiences for students that develops their personal, leadership and employability skills to ensure graduation from high school and positive post-graduate outcomes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Provides appropriate curriculum and ensures students achieve specific college and career competencies to classroom instruction; teaches through a variety of methods including lecture, hands on activities, and team teaching; tailors the program and teaching methods for the needs of each specific student, and implements and intervention strategy for each individual.- Ensures an appropriate pool of students by obtaining referrals from the school counselor, school personnel, and parents; hold interviews of prospective candidates and those making referrals to determine, using college and career guidelines, the appropriateness of the prospective student for the program.
- Administers testing programs including pre/post-test and career interest surveys; establishes and implements a career development plan for all enrolled students.
- Ensures positive perceptions of the college and career program program with the schools by developing and maintaining positive, effective working relationships with school personnel including teachers, administrators, and students.
- Builds appreciation for teamwork, sense of belonging, and commitment to community service among students; creates training opportunities for hands on activities, film presentations, guest speakers; assist with civic and social opportunities.
- Provides students with guidance, counseling, and support with an appropriate limits; refer students to additional support services on an as needed basis; takes responsibility for learning and complying with school policies such as mandated reporting, discipline, attendance, and the like.
- Assist coordinator with finding and maintaining quality employment and/or post-secondary education of programs upon graduation; works closely with the coordinator to ensure students have satisfactory appointment outcomes.
- Participate in staff, regional, and state wide meetings, and staff development activities.
- Completes and coordinates special projects and research assignments.
- Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with students, clients, visitors, and MPS staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious effective workplace environment.
- Enthusiastically promotes the Superintendence goals and priorities in compliance with all policies and procedures.
- Maintains absolute confidentiality of work related issues, records and MPS information.
- Other duties or tasks may be a sign on an as needed basis.

- Preference given to candidates with bilngual language skills
QUALIFICATIONS
Valid Minnesota Teaching License
