SUMMARY: Gifted and Talented Resource Teachers (TOSA), as members of Curriculum and Instruction, serve on a collaborative resource team to develop and guide the implementation of preK-12 gifted programming for Jefferson County Public Schools. Resource Teachers serve as a primary service provider to an assigned set of schools. Resource teachers support and implement the guidelines for gifted programming; facilitate the district wide identification process; facilitate the development and management of advanced learning plans; and participate in any of a variety committees and activities that support the Gifted and Talented community. Resource Teachers must be flexible in their workdays and work hours to best meet the needs of the department and gifted and talented community. The position is ongoing, yet dependent on grant funding.
Qualifications (non-negotiable):
1. Valid Colorado teaching license
2. A Gifted and Talented Endorsement through CDE or a Master's degree in Gifted Education
3. Minimum of five years recent, successful teaching experience
4. Valid Colorado driver's license (multiple job locations)
Essential Functions:
A Gifted and Talented Resource Teacher must be able to:
- Collaborate with the members of Educational Research and Design to design and deliver cohesive, coherent, and rigorous professional learning and facilitate professional development at the building and district levels
- Identify and share learning resources that support advanced/in-depth learning in all content areas, with an emphasis on best practice for advanced and gifted learners
- Actively advocate for gifted education especially in the areas of, identification and programming
- Collaborate with other GT resource team members regarding organization of responsibilities
- Demonstrate commitment and follow through with assigned tasks and communication with parents, administrators and team members
- Continue professional growth to address specific needs of: Underserved Populations, Gifted Center programming, Twice Exceptional, Parent Education, Vertical Teaming, extended learning opportunities and any other area that may present itself in this role.
- Deepen their own knowledge regarding research in gifted education
- Demonstrate technology skills in student data bases used by the district, Excel, Outlook, presentation programs, organization of data and documents in a variety of programs and keep up the technological changes that occur
- Communicate effectively and efficiently with all stakeholders, including parents, administrators and director
- Demonstrate skill and understanding in conflict resolution and management
- Work an altered work day and week to meet the demands of this position (i.e. Saturday testing, evening parent meetings, seminars, professional learning, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in developing and implementing differentiated classroom practices in gifted education and assessment. Must have a willingness to learn about and use alternative assessments when necessary to ensure gifted programming for ALL students including English Language Learners, students identified as Twice-Exceptional, and students with diverse cultural/ethnic/socio-economic backgrounds
- Knowledge of and ability to interpret data using an instructional decision making model to address student achievement outcomes
- Working knowledge of district and state assessments
- Successful experience in facilitating adult professional development
- Knowledge of school and district policies and practice (e.g. Strategic Plan), as well as state and federal mandates (e.g. ESSA, ESCE, and state laws pertaining to Gifted and Talented education)
- Ability to oversee several projects simultaneously and bring them to completion on time
- Ability to use and learn new technology
- Knowledge of the Autonomous Learner Model
- Ability to be a critical and creative thought partner in determining the needs of complex learning and solutions

Min-Mid Annual Salary Range: $50,000.00 - $66,989.54 Effective as of: 08-16-2022
**Annual salary noted above is based on an 8 hour day and full days worked calendar. Any position that is less than a full FTE/8 hours per day or late start will be prorated accordingly.

RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Serve as directed in a special assignment.
- Partner with principals, individual teachers, school sites, and articulation areas to implement District initiatives.
- Utilize content expertise to effectively develop curriculum, trainings or materials and facilitate this information to teachers and principals.
- Communicate and work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in specific content area as indicated. Masters degree preferred. Most recent Performance Evaluation with a "meeting or exceeding standards" in all performance areas and overall performance. Understanding of the Colorado State Standards for specific content area. Knowledge of other applicable State or Federal laws may apply.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of five years successful classroom teaching experience in the content area. Previous successful experience working with adult learners. Experience using a variety of assessment tools including best practices in the areas of classroom instruction, differentiation, assessments, and interventions. Demonstrated understanding of a K-12 perspective for designated subject area. Experience effectively facilitating teacher professional development.
CERTIFICATION: Valid Colorado teaching license, preferably in specific TOSA related content area.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & EQUIPMENT: Excellent communication skills and positive interpersonal skills. Demonstrated expertise in specific content area and best practices for all students ranging in abilities from special needs to accelerated learners. Demonstrated understanding of a response to intervention process including the use of a variety of assessments and core, strategic and intensive strategies. Demonstrated leadership skills in the area of professional development including organizing and facilitating sessions. Knowledge and comfort with technology applications that support District curriculum. Knowledge of and experience with District's commitment to a guaranteed and viable curriculum including current work of the content team. Knowledge and ability to think flexibly and to adapt work to the needs the specific department. Willingness to implement national, state, and District initiatives. Knowledge of current research and issues in the area of subject area. Demonstrated ability to consult with a variety of groups and individuals. Ability to manage multiple projects effectively and to meet deadlines.
SPAN OF CONTROL: This position does not have any supervisory responsibility.
