Core Function:

This individual prepares and files a high volume of corporate tax returns in a timely and accurate manner. This individual maintains company tax records, files for tax refunds and credits, researches inquiries from governmental agencies, and provides support for tax audits and the corporate tax department.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, periodic and annual sales & use tax returns for multiple jurisdictions.
  • Prepare business license, census and other information reports.
  • Assist with non-sales (personal property, franchise, income, etc.) tax return preparation.
  • Analyze tax records and prepare worksheets to support return preparation.
  • Collect and maintain supporting documentation and records for customer tax exemptions and account updates.
  • Analyze all tax bills for correctness and process for timely payments.
  • Address sales tax notices/tax liens and contacts tax authorities to resolve issues.
  • Conduct basic tax research to interpret tax filing requirements
  • Prepare correspondence and supporting work paper analyses.
  • Provide support for tax audits & the tax department, as needed.
  • Prioritize work load depending on near term due dates and work closely with supervisor to file a large volume of tax returns and pay taxes in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Assist with special ad hoc projects as assigned.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent, Associate degree or higher preferred.
  • Basic accounting knowledge.
  • Typically requires 1- 2 years of experience with tax return filings, preferably sales tax.
  • Must be self-motivated, well organized and have strong math and analytical skills.
  • Keen attention to detail with ability to multi-task to process volumes of work.
  • Able to interface effectively with others to gather and share sensitive information.
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills in using MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Basic office knowledge: phones skills, computer skills, letter (email writing).
  • Strong clerical and analytical skills.
  • Considered a Plus:
  • Experience with using sales tax return software (Taxware, Vertex, Sabrix), a plus.
  • Experience with ERP accounting software (SAP, Oracle, Hyperion)
  • Technical knowledge of sales tax compliance.

General Office Environment

Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
