The Opportunity
As the Onboarding Specialist for Grand Casinos, you will be responsible for welcoming newly hired Associates and executing the engagement plan throughout the onboarding journey; managing the end-to-end onboarding process, ensuring a great experience for new Associates and their teams, ensuring a smooth start into their roles. The Onboarding Specialist is the primary point of contact for and provides critical support to candidates, hiring managers, and internal Talent and business stakeholders to provide a best-in-class onboarding experience for newly hired Associates.
What You Get to Do
- Create and communicate information about the organization, onboarding agenda, equipment, dress code, parking options, perks and similar items to newly hired Associates.
- Ensure timely execution and completion of a seamless workflow for each new Associate.
- Ensure new hires have technical assistance to properly set up their hardware/software and distribute manuals, passwords, and guidelines, as needed.
- Occasionally host onboarding sessions.
- Coordinate onboarding presentations and product demos.
- Audit data and set up Associate profiles in internal HRIS systems, assisting with the coordination, preparation, and distribution of Associate documentation.
- Align new Associates with managers and their team and communicate involvement procedures to all stakeholders.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for hiring managers and newly hired Associates.
- Provide reporting and project updates to team and/or senior management.
- Prioritize and manage workload to meet critical deadlines.
- Be a subject matter expert and make recommendations on how to improve process efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with all processes and maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times.
- Challenge the status quo and proactively identify process improvements.
- Identify innovative and creative new ways to onboard new Associates to reach a more scalable and measurable onboarding experience.
- Participate in special projects and complete other duties as requested or assigned.

What Qualifies You
- High school Diploma or GED required.
- Two years of work experience in a similar position or a degree in Human Resources or a related field.
- Ability to work successfully and professionally communicate with all levels of Associates and management.
- Ability to understand basic technical concepts and explain them in simple terms.
- Quick learner.
- Ability to troubleshoot, identify improvements, and make simple decisions independently.
- Strong attention to detail with ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks at once.
- Strong team player with a results driven approach and who can work with limited guidance.
- Energetic person with strong interpersonal and communication skills, including active listening.
- Very strong work ethic with “can do” and collaborative attitude.
- Fluency in [Languages].
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Suite.
- Proficiency in HR Systems, applicant tracking systems, HR capital management systems (e.g. Workday) and Visio preferred.
- This position will be performed in an office setting and will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.
- Able to secure license from Gaming Regulatory Authority (GRA).
- Responsible for following all relevant Detailed Gaming Regulations (DGR’s).
- Mille Lacs Band Member and American Indian preference will be exercised in the hiring process.
