Systems Administrator Job at HF Sinclair
Basic Function
HF Sinclair in Dallas, TX is seeking a Systems Administrator who will provide complex to advanced system, application, and database support as assigned and conducts technical assignments and projects for the Information Technology Department under minimal supervision.
Job Duties
- Provides general systems support for engineering, blending, drawing, inspection, maintenance and reliability and HES applications and the inspection SQL database
- Moves MOC's from archive to active, changes status in an Access or Excel Database and sets up new users, resets passwords, and changes profiles for multiple applications
- Monitors applications daily for optimization (slowness), batches jobs, runs monthly reports, performs weekly backups and break/fixes, and creates interfaces as needed
- Adds new categories, goals, etc., to FoxPro or other database
- Completes quarterly SOX audits for various applications and extracts data from Oracle database to assist in conversions to Data Stream
- Assists in maintaining and converting legacy applications to HollyFrontier applications and extracts data form legacy databases for conversion
- Maintains operator lists, hierarchy data, routes, workspaces for various applications
- Manages interface between Terminal loading software, assisting when drivers/trailers become locked out, rebooting system server (VAX) when necessary, setting up new interfaces as needed, and handling Break/Fix system problems
- Adds new PIMI relationships and tests to ensure they are working, maintains existing PIMI relations and handles Break/Fix
- Writes clear, concise, and accurate documentation and provides training
- Runs periodical crystal reports for HES/Remediation, maintains, adds and modifies existing reports on Crystal Report Viewer and creates new reports on demand
- Acts as system administrator for Data Stream: sets up new users, resets passwords, changes profiles and creates reports as needed with report writing tool
- Maintains SQL Blending application and database ensuring blends are assigned batch numbers, and supports Planners application which sends blends to blenders
- Protects the computer and telephone systems from unauthorized access
- Troubleshoots all applications except PI and provides onsite support for all VAX VMS and ALPHA servers, including rebooting and break/fix
May include all or some of the following:
- Acts as a liaison between all IT Site Leads and Corporate IT
- Coordinates service level agreements (SLA) between Sites and Corporate Service Center and works with Site IT to maintain SLAs
- Coordinates IT project status reports between IT Site Leads and appropriate Refinery management
Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their superior, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.
Experience
A minimum of eight years of job-related experience is required.
Education Level
A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, related discipline or a combination of education and job-related experience is required.
Required Skills
Advanced administration, implementation, and support experience required in various engineering, blending, drawing, inspection, maintenance and reliability and company applications. Strong organizational, time-management, the ability to effectively communicate with others, both verbal and written communication skills; and the ability perform intermediate mathematical calculations; advanced reading and writing skills. Working knowledge of SQL database principles.
Preferred Skills:
Microsoft certifications (MCDST, MCSA, MCSE, MCP, MOUS) are preferred.
Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility
May lead other Systems personnel from time to time.
Work Conditions
Office based with travel up to 30% by land and air required. Petroleum refinery, warehouse/plant environment, out-of-doors environment, and driver based environment including but not limited to chemicals, pressure vessels, tanks, rotating equipment, and exposure to the risk of electrical shock. Occasionally required to work long hours which may include nights, weekends, holidays for regularly scheduled maintenance and emergency work and support as well as on-call availability. Subject to all temperatures, weather and varying road conditions.
Physical Requirements
Job conditions require standing, walking, sitting, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, reaching or grasping, lifting and/or carrying up to 50lbs, pushing and/or pulling up to 50lbs, climbing up to 15ft, perceiving color differences, wearing personal protective equipment (beards not permitted).
