My Pets Wellness has an immediate opening for a Lead Surgical Veterinary Technician to join our growing team in beautiful Spring Hill, Tennessee! We have four locations in the area that comprise our Franklin network of clinics:

Under the direction of MPW management, your responsibilities may include:

  • Work with the Network Lead Technician to train, supervise, and work alongside the Assistants/Technicians.
  • Maintain controlled drug inventory and logs
  • Assist doctors with outpatient appointments and surgical/dental procedures.
  • Collect and appropriately process laboratory samples.
  • Ensure all surgical equipment is properly sterilized and stored.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient files and updated plan of care.
  • Able to effectively communicate updates and direct new product roll outs and/or SOPs.
  • Manage hospital inventory and review ordering schedule for medications and supplies.
  • Ensure Core Standards are maintained (facility, equipment maintenance / cleaning) at the hospital location.
  • Manage cash handling and ensure protocols are followed for the hospital location.

In Addition to the Responsibilities Listed Above, the Surgical Veterinary Technician Will Be Responsible for The Following:

  • Administrative tasks — answering the phone, making appointments, and taking payments
  • Assist veterinarian in appointments — patient restraint, obtain patient history, etc
  • Record patient vital signs
  • Administer medications (oral, IM, IV, etc.) and other patient treatments
  • Perform venipuncture and place IV catheters
  • Obtain patient radiographs
  • Perform in-house laboratory tests — CBC and blood chemistry, urinalysis, ear, and skin cytology
  • Induce and monitor anesthesia
  • Perform canine and feline dental cleanings
  • Obtaining dental radiographs
  • Educate clients about various aspects of animal health
  • Maintain patient records using EzyVet practice management software

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience as a veterinary technician working in small animal medicine/surgery.
  • Experience assisting doctors with dental procedures including monitoring vitals, performing routine cleanings independently, and obtaining dental radiographs.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills required.
  • Knowledge of modern veterinary medicine and the ability to assist with surgical procedures.
