Living by these virtues, we pride ourselves on exceptional service and the highest quality of care.In cooperation with Perioperative Services and Materials Management, the Supply Chain Tech IV sets up and maintains supply replenishment systems for all supplies and patient care equipment used in the Perioperative Services areas. Responsible for maintaining accurate physical control of inventory in our OR environment. This includes order replenishment, issuing out items, picking orders, distribution, managing outdates using FIFO methodologies, cleaning storage environment and managing any return of supplies in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
- Must meet all Supply Chain technician I, II & III skills, knowledge, education and experience requirements. High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Some college course work in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration/Management, Accounting, Finance or related field preferred.
- Requires a minimum of 18 months previous experience in any one, or combination of the following: Distribution, Warehousing, Shipping, Receiving, Logistics, Material handling, Customer Service, Inventory Control or other comparable service line.
- Experience with Supply Chain technology solutions (i.e. inventory control/hand held devices, bar coding, automated supply cabinets, and other expandable wireless products). PeopleSoft related experience preferred.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF PERIOPERATIVE AREA:
- Assist Perioperative team with physician case preference cards as needed.
- Management of inventory on a daily basis per decrementation of supplies, crediting supplies not used on cases, conducting daily supply needs assessments and process daily orders.
- Assist with inventory and cycle counts of supplies.
- Work collaboratively with perioperative staff and vendor representatives to ensure necessary equipment and supplies are available for surgical cases.
- Basic knowledge of surgical procedure invasiveness and medical terminology preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and work in a fast-paced, heavily matrixes environment.
- Become proficient with concepts and procedures described in the procedure manuals for inventory.
- Strong attention to detail, highly organized and able to handle confidential information following all regulatory guidelines.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills and customer service skills, including the ability to develop and maintain strong, credible, ethical relationships with all levels of leadership, clinicians, colleagues and vendors.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, problem solving, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.
- Monitors department stock daily to provide tracking mechanisms, accuracy, and knowledge of the materials management system.
- Electronically orders daily and/or special supplies for surgery.
- Electronically receives orders and maintenance of supplies for surgery.
- Ensures correct orders have been received.
- Manages implant and supply consignment.
- Verifies content of implant and instrumentation sets owned by the vendor, upon arrival and departure from Saint Alphonsus.
- Works as a liaison with Logistics staff.
- Is responsible for ordering and maintaining logistics supplies for surgical areas.
- Issues request for Purchase Orders for consigned product.
- Provides Charge Audit with appropriate product information.
- Assists with Inventory Item updates.
- Provides proactive approach to ordering supplies for future surgical procedures.
- Checks outstanding orders weekly and follows up with appropriate Purchasing staff.
- Communicates backorders via e-mail to the appropriate Surgery Manager(s). Resolves billing discrepancies.
- Processes equipment repairs and loaner requests as needed. Research products, services and equipment using available resources to Supply Chain data, contracts, vendors and Internet.
- Knowledge of basic billing (including consignment billing management and crediting procedures) preferred.
