This position is part of the Marmon Rail Division and will be assigned to a repair shop location either at Union Tank Car Company or Transco Railway Products, Inc. - North America locations, or Procor, at one of their Canadian locations.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Data Analytics Manager is a corporate-level position that will engage and align with plant and Supply Chain functions to assist in establishing specific focus for project teams, analyze necessary information, and monitor and report on timelines and execution of milestones to the Director, Business Process Analysis. The role will aid the Director to ensure that initiatives are aligned with the strategic directions of corporate-wide, large-scale deliverables and achieve the proposed return on investment (ROI), stated objectives and proposed business value.
The Data Analytics Manager will be actionable in the management of the team of Supply Chain Analysts and support the Functional Transformation of demand planning, supply planning, delivery fulfillment, inventory management, Procurement analytics. The role assists to ensure that current Supply Chain strategies are incorporated into project tasks and be responsible for the structured reporting and fulfillment of approved projects that support business objectives and goals and sustain future growth.

Primary responsibilities and/or essential functions include, but are not limited to:
  • Assists the Director in developing long and short-range plans for improvement of the Supply Chain functionality and suggests steps to achieve improved levels of performance within all departmental areas, specifically Procurement and Materials Management.
  • Makes recommendations regarding the design, development and implementation of functional changes, policies, processes, and procedures/protocols needed to realize the proposed value and/or organizational outcomes expected with D365. Assists in the development of D365 organizational and strategic awareness with a focus on future direction and objectives.
  • Contributes to the continuous improvement of enterprise performance through rail industry specific data analysis, and the development and implementation of sound management practices and procedures.
  • Guides the Analytics team with direction, delivering processes and tools to increase efficiencies and improve effectiveness of the analytics provided by this function. Assists in identifying and developing data-driven, cross-business unit initiatives to produce synergies and economies of scale.
  • Suggests appropriate leading and lagging KPIs cross-functionally to drive consistent performance improvement. Manages KPI dashboards from site to full organizational level to ensure the business and the process is delivering stated objectives. Monitors corrective action measures that are identified and reports such to the Director.
  • Focuses the Supply Chain Analysts on the value of the department efforts in reducing waste and improving efficiency and effectiveness of the Supply Chain functions, principles and strategies.
  • Assists in the development of detailed functional training plans to successfully provide onboarding of said training to material management/ procurement teams through all phases, culminating with a completed close-out of the project.
  • Oversees the organization of data sets within the data lake by keeping a detailed and accurate database of sufficient Supply Chain detail (i.e., Procurement spend, consumption, inventory). Organizes data sets to support supplier performance scorecards, Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) models.

  • Acuity to examine existing procedures or opportunities for streamlining activities to meet Supply Chain analytical needs.
  • Knowledgeable in system tools and analysis potential; able to identify trends and themes from data quickly and proficiently; coaches others in effective systems use. Clearly understands a high volume of data and able to interpret and present to the Director to support decision making.
  • Proven ability to provide requisite analytics in the development of an inventory plan that will support inventory targets through appropriate parameter settings including safety stock and master scheduling static data.
  • Familiar with conducting and facilitating what-if analyses to create alternate scenarios for reconciling predicted budget outcomes via critical success factors and mitigation strategies.
  • Ability to manage confidentiality with sensitive information.
  • Successful use of decision-making and analytical tools. Highly detail oriented.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage/lead multiple projects and changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and establish business relationships with analytical team members. Excellent team management/supervisory abilities.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills in dealing with a global cross-functional team.
  • 25% travel (Site specific review is a must)
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Analytics, Computer Science or related field required.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of supply chain or analytics leadership experience.
  • Lean Six Sigma Continuous Improvement experience (certification strongly preferred).
  • CSCMP / CPSM / APICS / other certifications preferred.
  • ERP implementation / significant upgrade / enhancement experience is a plus.
  • Prior experience in leading and coaching supply chain analytical teams/projects, with strong business acumen, analytical and problem-solving skills is required.
  • Experience with factory support and improving sustaining operations.
  • Experience leading continuous improvement across nationwide sites.
  • Exceptional people leader required.
