Certified Nursing Assistant – Birth & Women's Care Center – Summer Employment

Looking for summer employment and have an interest in healthcare? Sauk Prairie Healthcare is recruiting students or others seeking limited-term employment. Summer employment options available from June 4, 2023, though August 18, 2023, in our Acute Care and Surgery Center departments. Work hours vary based on department needs.

• Hours include Saturday and Sundays from 1200 PM - 8:00 PM and Monday through Fridays from 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM

We are seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to:

• Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, provide direct patient care.
• Perform vital signs on both mothers and newborns according to policy.
• Perform glucose and newborn screening.
• Perform hearing screens on newborns.
• Remove foley catheters.
• Remove hepwell.
• Set-up for circumcisions and perform clean up.
• Set-up for newborn bilitherapy.
• Provide initial care for a delivered newborn under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
• Setup sterile delivery instruments.
• Explain procedures to patients.
• Document patient cares according to unit policies.
• Assist with discharge process such as a car seat check, accompanying a patient to their vehicle.
• Report changes in patient’s physical or mental condition to the nurse.
• Ensure a clean and safe patient environment equipped with adequate supplies for each patient. Complete facility requests as appropriate
• Document care provided, and actions taken in a timely and appropriate manner.
• Assist in keeping the patient rooms, supply rooms and hallways neat, clean and orderly.
• Answer patient call lights.
• Clean returned wheelchairs prior to reuse by another patient.
• Other duties as assigned to include assisting with projects and tasks that can be performed at the workstation.

Education/Certifications :

Must have current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Basic Life Support certification is required with the first 3 months of employment.

Work Experience :

Preferred – Previous experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
