In this role you will: Located: 89th Road Richmond Hill, Queens

Under general direction, the Substance Use Counselor provides behavioral counseling and education to substance use population through individual and group sessions. The position manages a caseload of clients and is responsible for keeping all required documentation up to date. This work is carried out in support of the mission and goals of Samaritan Daytop Village.


What qualifications do you need:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • This role requires a CASAC
  • Minimum One-Two (1-2) years related experience working with clients with Substance Use Disorder for designated agency programs. Some programs are able to absorb newly certified counselors. Working with Mental Health population is a plus.
  • Knowledge and/or training in Trauma Informed Care and various organizational treatment.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with persons with co-occurring disorders.
  • Knowledge of the laws regarding personnel and client information.
  • Knowledge of Client Rights.
  • Knowledge of Code of Ethics.
  • Computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EMR.
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Additional Salary Details: The salary range and/or hourly rate advertised is a good faith estimate of compensation that may be offered to a potential candidate. The rate of pay is determined by several factors such as education, years of relevant experience, division, location, specialty, funding source, and credentials.
