Location Information
Saint Therese offers a continuum of care and services available in a person's own home or in one of our four Twin Cities communities: New Hope, Brooklyn Park, Shoreview and Woodbury.
Rooted in history, Saint Therese of New Hope is our largest community. This care center has 168 skilled nursing beds for long-term and transitional care. In addition, the Residence at Saint Therese of New Hope houses 225 independent apartments and suites for assisted living and memory care.
Responsibilities
The Staff Development Coordinator/Nurse Educator is responsible for conducting General Orientation for all newly hired employees, coordinates on-going nursing staff education to ensure that the nursing staff are adequately trained. This position will prepare, organize, and maintain appropriate nursing training and resource materials, develop new nursing training programs, or modify and improve existing programs. The Staff Development Coordinator/Nurse Educator will monitor and observe nursing staff performing resident care tasks to assure proper procedures are followed and schedule additional training as deemed necessary. This position is accountable for assessment, initiation, development, implementation, and evaluation of education related to orientation, mandatory education, continuing education and professional development in specialty areas and all nursing employees. This position will coordinate site specific, external staff education in-services, and publish a monthly calendar. This position works collaboratively with the nursing leaders to assess learning needs and develop education plans and assists with the management of compliance. This position also assists with implementation of PIPP’s internally/externally and assists with special projects related to PIPP grants.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor of Science/Art in Nursing Degree. RN Licensure with MN Board of Nursing.
Experience:
Experience in assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs (within the last 5-7 years). Experience with Learning Management Systems preferred. Experience as preceptor/clinical educator.

- Ability to convey Staff Development and geriatric knowledge to employees in classroom setting, in person, online, and during in-services.
- Demonstrates good people skills with the ability to work cohesively with all job levels, all types of personalities, and with all facility departments.
- Demonstrates effective listening skills and effective communication skills, verbally and in writing, with employees of varying levels of expertise.
- Is neatly dressed and is appropriate in appearance in a highly visible position.
- Ability to be flexible and maintain composure in challenging situations.
- Demonstrates positive attitude and the ability to work as a supportive team member with all departments, in committee meetings, and with employees.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize work using effective time management skills.
- Ability to coordinate events and publish education information.
- Ability to organize, monitors, record, file and maintain records.
- Demonstrates working knowledge of computer and software programs.
- Ability to present ideas creatively to announce and promote in-services, special projects, and demonstrations.
- Ability to problem-solve in clinical nursing areas.
