Systems & Software is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator/Engineer to join our team as an operating system specialist and IT generalist.

This is a hands-on role where you will learn and gain experience both by doing and via training/certification opportunities. Success is measured by the operational improvements you contribute to both your team and the organization.

This remote role welcomes candidates anywhere in Canada and the US.

What your impact will be:

As a member of the technical operations team, your position requires:

• Cloud and on-premise system provisioning, network setup and maintenance
• Monitoring internal and customer system health
• Tier 2/3 technical support for internal and external customers (after hours support rotation required)
• Diagnosing and resolving operating system issues (performance problems, configuration issues, etc.)
• Leading and mentoring more junior team members
• Creating and maintaining technical documentation
• Implementing continuous improvement through automation
• Streamlining processes
• Strategic improvement projects
• Educating users

What we are looking for:

• At least 5 years of experience/familiarity with Linux (Oracle, RHEL, CentOS) and Windows Server OS
• Experience/familiarity with the following infrastructure: Virtualization/Containers, IaaS Cloud (Oracle, AWS, Azure, etc), VMware (vSphere / ESXi) and Docker
• Experience/familiarity with Dell Servers, Compellent/EqualLogic SANs, and Fortinet Fortigate firewall/vpn, switches
• Experience with Cloud Hosting/Architecture (Oracle Cloud, AWS, Azure, etc.)
• A bachelor’s degree in the field of computer science, information science, information systems, or related field OR equivalent work experience in a systems admin role
• Ability to travel up to 5% within North America

What would make you stand out:

• Relevant certifications are desirable, e.g., Red Hat Certified Engineer
• Experience with Automation: Bash Scripting/Systems programming and Ansible
• Experience with programming Python and Cloud vendor SDKs
