Summary:
The Hill Group, one of Chicago’s mechanical industry leaders for over 85 years, has an exciting opportunity for a SQL Developer with business intelligence and data analysis responsibilities.
Your role on the team:
- The SQL Developer is responsible for working with SQL (Structured Query Language) databases. Main job duties include designing, developing, and maintaining SQL databases, creating and optimizing SQL queries, ensuring data accuracy and integrity, and collaborating with other developers and data analysts to implement data-driven solutions. This position is also responsible for troubleshooting and resolving database issues, developing data models, and creating reports based on database queries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Extract data from SQL, analyze data, and create reports
- Writing stored procedures to extract data views from various SQL databases (Oracle & Microsoft)
- Meet with business executives to analyze and interpret business needs
- Utilize tabular reporting tools such as Crystal Reports
- Utilize data visualization tools such as PowerBI or Tableau to build and deploy visualizations
- Identify and develop business efficiency needs and implement strategies for improvement
- Develop and monitor technical documentation
Experience and Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience gathering, interpreting, and reporting on data
- Expert ability to write queries and pull data from Microsoft or Oracle SQL
- Experience translating gathered data into business reports
- Ability to converse with high level business partners to gather and analyze business needs
- Bachelor’s degree with a technical focus
- Ability to work onsite in the Franklin Park, IL office
Other qualifications:
- Exposure to accounting language and terminology strongly preferred
- Exposure to the construction or mechanical industry would be a plus
