Position Summary

The Software QA & Tester is part of Modeling & Simulation Enterprise Applications (MSEA) product suite supporting modeling and simulation (M&S) environments; trainer systems; test and evaluation (T&E); analysis; live, virtual and constructive (LVC); research and development (R&D) activities for DoD agencies and its international partners. All products are government owned, developed and managed. The Next Generation Threat System (NGTS) is a continually evolving synthetic environment generator that supports multiple platform/services training, testing, analysis and research and development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties include, but not limited to:
  • Lead the NGTS Testing team for the MSEA branch
  • Testing software for an advanced synthetic training environment
  • Software is integrated into flight simulators to support pilot training against potential threats
  • Support software development, software integration, testing, customer training and demonstrations

  • Install and run regression tests on a new NGTS test build (multiple builds weekly)

  • Test a variety of Jira issues from new feature implementation to bug fixes to database queries

  • Document test results discovered issues in Jira

  • Collaborate with NGTS software developers and subject matter experts during training sessions

  • Create new test procedures documents to validate new requirements

  • Communicate access a large team to verify correct procedures and software issue diagnosis

  • Run extensive regression tests when software reaches Release Candidate (RC) phrase

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

Knowledge and Skills
The required skills and knowledge include:
  • Minimum 4-year experience leading a software testing team using Agile & Waterfall Development Methodologies

  • Minimum 4-year experience with testing/developing software products

  • Experience with scripting, database, and programming languages such as C++

The minimum years of related experience required:
  • 4-year experience with testing/developing software products and leading teams

Education
The minimum level of education required is:
  • BS/BA degree in Electronics, Computer, Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, Mathematician

Desired Requirements

The desired skills, knowledge, and education include:
  • Experience with scripting, database, and programming languages in Python 3, and HTML

  • Prior experience supporting Model and Simulation efforts

  • Prior experience supporting automated testing

Other Qualifications

Outside of the above, other certifications, licenses, or clearances include:
  • Must be able to obtain DoD Secret security clearance

  • Must be able to obtain DoD Special Access Program (SAP) clearance
