As a manager of the software engineering division, you will apply your knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and suggest improvements to the architecture.

Manages and controls activities in multi-functional areas of sections. Ensures appropriate operational planning is effectively executed to meet Corporate specifications. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development. Responsibilities

This role requires an experienced cloud service development leader. You will hire and develop very senior engineers and provide technical direction for complex, distributed systems. You must be able to conceptualize broad systems interactions, while being very hands-on, able to dive deep into any part of the stack and lower level system interactions. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn. Software is living and needs investment, and the primary challenge of this role is making the right tradeoffs, communicating those decisions effectively, and driving capable execution. An effective leader in this role will help bring governments and organizations all over the world safely into a cloud that prioritizes customer freedom and choice.

Required Qualifications

• BS in computer science, computer engineering, information systems, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of management experience, ideally with experience delivering and operating large scale, highly available distributed services
• 5+ years of software engineering experience, ideally with customer facing products and solutions
• Demonstrated proficiency in Java, C++, C#, or similar OO languages
• Strong communication skills, analytical skills, and project management skill
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, CI/CD pipelines, and distributed systems fundamentals
• Strong understanding of databases, NoSQL systems, storage, and deployment technologies

Desirable Qualifications

• Hands-on experience developing production services on a public cloud platform (e.g., AWS, Azure, Oracle)
• Experience building highly available services, with knowledge of micro-service design patterns and service-to-service communication protocols
• Experience driving architecture and security reviews, documentation, UX reviews, and working with Product Managers through the entire launch process
• Experience working with internal and external customers and translating requests into prioritized work or features
• Practical security and compliance knowledge, especially in regard to safe data handling practices
• Familiarity with software engineering concepts and virtualized networking, security, storage, and other cloud architecture principles.
