Risk Management services provide anti-fraud protection to each transaction and each customer on Commerce Platform, ensure legit customers can acquire and use services with minimum friction while minimizing fraud losses. Our services make real-time decisions with ML models in split seconds in huge scale, run near-real-time cluster/link analysis to catch missed fraud, provide sophisticated tooling to enable human fraud experts investigating suspicious cases, regularly re-calculate reputation score for each customer, and operate data platform to empower other Risk management innovations.

We are looking for result-driven full stack Software Development Engineer with solid technical capabilities, strong experience in frontend development and data management, great communication and cross-group collaboration skills to join our globally distributed team and build our next generation of anti-fraud Risk management services.
In this position you will be expected to design, build, and validate the features that you and peers work on. You will contribute to delivering new and improved functionality to customers and partners each sprint and be responsible for ensuring that the design and implementation is of high quality. You will achieve these by working with other engineers, program managers as well as our internal customers along the way, quickly building/experimenting features to continuously improve fraud investigation experience and leveraging cutting edge Azure technologies.

Responsibilities

Commerce + Ecosystems (within Cloud + AI group) is developing Microsoft’s large scale and business-critical backbone services to empower e-commerce for all of Microsoft’s key businesses: Azure, Office 365, Xbox, Microsoft Online Store, Microsoft Ads, and a lot more. The Commerce Engineering Operation group in Commerce + Ecosystems focuses on delivering high quality customer and partner experiences and exceptional business outcomes through Microsoft’s commerce systems, today and in the digitally transformed future. We do this by:
  • Designing, innovating, automating, and sustaining scalable end-to-end operational solutions
  • Collaborating with business teams to help our internal partners sell products and services, and our customers buy them, in a secure, frictionless manner
  • Building and delivering impactful services and tools that are compliant by design, flexible, configurable with fast feedback loops
  • Executing with operational excellence in all we do

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in engineering, computer science, or equivalent field.
  • 6+ years of hands-on software development experience, preferably with C#/.NET/SQL or JavaScript/React.
  • Experience in building performant system that deal with complexity or scale.
  • Ability to drive technical investigations, 3rd party solution evaluation, and prototyping in a fast-paced startup-like environment.
  • The ability to convey technical ideas in common terms to program managers, designers, and engineers alike.
  • Solid object-oriented design and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong sense of curiosity and a willingness to learn, share, and improve.
  • Team player with excellent cross-group collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications
o Experience with public cloud services, such as Azure.
o Experience with big data processing.
o Experience with large scale anti-fraud tooling.
o Experience with Microsoft’s Power Platform and Dynamics 365 development.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year. Microsoft has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistently in different geographic markets (see below). The range above reflects the potential base pay across the U.S. for this role (except as noted below); the applicable base pay range will depend on what ultimately is determined to be the candidate’s primary work location. Individual base pay depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Base pay ranges are reviewed and typically updated each year. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time. At Microsoft certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role.
