Summary
This is a .8 FTE with the Pediatric Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Service at Mott Children's Hospital. The social worker will be part of a team composed of a nurse practitioner and/or psychiatrist who will see youth up to age 25 in the C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital including on the medical floors and in the medical emergency room. Scheduled days will be Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and every other Wednesday from 12am-8am, with two shifts per month being extended to 10 hours. Ours

Responsibilities*
You will be responsible for:
- Reviewing records, diagnostic assessment, symptom monitoring, care management and care coordination, evaluating and recording progress with respect to treatment goals, and ongoing collaboration with the patient’s primary medical team and other relevant subspecialty services while drawing on social work experience and ongoing assessment of patient needs.
- Providing discharge planning for psychiatry patients in the Child Emergency Service and inpatient medical services who are being actively followed by the CL Service.
- Participating in team meetings and other care coordination meetings on the CL service. This will require preparation, and the ability to make case presentations accurately and concisely.
- Working directly with patients both face-to-face and by phone contacts. Some family work will occur via zoom or telephone.
- Brief therapeutic interventions drawing on evidence-based psychotherapies, psychoeducation, safety planning, assisting family members in understanding and supporting the patient, grief counseling, and referrals to community resources are some of the skills required.

Required Qualifications*
- A Master's degree in Social Work from a school accredited by the Council of Social Work Education.
- A current license to practice social work in the State of Michigan.
Desired Qualifications*
- Previous experience with medical and mental health social work.
- Skilled in developing rapport and effectively communicating with a diverse patient population.
- Efficient, accurate assessment of patient needs and effective case dispositions.
- Effective organizational skills, flexibility, self-motivation, the ability to effectively prioritize multiple competing tasks in a dynamic medical clinic.
- Independent, sound decision-making is necessary for success in this position.
- Effective collaboration with a large multi-disciplinary team.
- Proficiency in keeping accurate and timely clinical records by computer.
- Experience with evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions (e.g., CBT, PST, ACT, DBT) and familiarity with brief, structured interventions (e.g., Motivational Interviewing, Behavioral Activation) along with a basic knowledge of psychopharmacology.
Work Schedule
This is a 0.8 FTE position. Hours will be rotational to include one 12 hour weekend shift and two-three 8 weekday shifts per week.

Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third-party administrator to conduct background screenings.
