Site Surveyor Job at Bearing Construction Inc.
Job Summary
The Construction Surveyor will report directly to the Department head and must be able to follow proper procedures, perform accurate calculations and work in a team-based environment. The Construction Surveyor is mainly responsible for performing topography, construction stakeout, as built and control surveys using both conventional and GPS methods.
Responsibilities And Duties
- Ability to provide construction field stake out, topographic, utility, and various other construction related survey as needed.
- Maintain survey field supply inventory.
- Maintenance/preparation of equipment as needed.
- Operation of Trimble GPS, Robotic Total Stations, and Data Collectors.
- Examine previous records and evidence to ensure data accuracy.
- Taking measurements of distances and angles on a property or section of land in order to establish legal boundaries.
- Employing specialized equipment, including distance measuring wheels, GPS, and geographic information system (GIS) devices to measure boundaries and contours.
- Performing mathematical calculations to determine and confirm surveying measurements.
- Marking and delineating boundaries and reference points on a property or section of land.
- Analyzing data using plans, maps, charts, and software such as AutoCAD and GIS programs.
- Collaborating and working with project managers, construction crews, and government agencies, when necessary.
- Assist project management with verification and/or documentation of work performed.
- Assist with developing and improving surveying skills of field personnel.
- Prepare clear, complete, legible, and detailed sketch/field notes.
- Provide field data for boundary surveys, topographical and construction stakeout surveys.
- Maintain safety working conditions and able to follow safety guidelines.
- Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required to complete the job.
Physical Requirements:
- Must have the ability to carry survey equipment and supplies in rural and urban surroundings
- Must have the ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Must have the ability to regularly walk, stand, crouch or stoop.(Including walking over rough, uneven or slippery surfaces)
- Must be willing to work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the elements
Experience and Education
- Working knowledge of GPS and GIS
- Tech savvy, including familiarity with CAD software
- 2 - 4 year post-secondary degree preferred
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $23.00 per hour

- AutoCAD: 1 year (Preferred)
