Position Summary:
YWCA Hartford Region is seeking a Site Manager to direct the activities associated with the successful delivery of child care programs and services at the site level. Ensure that curriculum content and activities foster educational and personal growth of each child in care, and ensuring their safety and well being.

Essential Functions of the Job:
  • Ensure that the site consistently meets the Office of Early Childhood and NAEYC health and safety standards;
  • Follow defined State and YWCA protocols for reporting suspect child abuse or neglect, to include documentation, notification of OEC, NAEYC and DCF when applicable;
  • Establish staff schedules and contingency staffing plans to ensure adherence to state mandated staff to child ratios;
  • Ensure that staff are following all CACFP documentation and procedures;
  • Work with the Instructional Leader in the planning and implementation of age appropriate educational programs at a site level;
  • Review and monitor curriculum and lesson plan development and implementation;
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with staff, families, peers and associates.
  • Monitor children's progress to ensure activities are meeting the students educational and developmental needs;
  • Review individual child observations, assessments and family conference forms to ensure adherence to the Intentional Teaching cycle and developmentally appropriate practice;
  • Ensure staff adherence to YWCA Positive Guidance Policy and the Atypical Behavior process;
  • Arrange and lead all Inclusion Support Plan meetings with families, staff and outside agencies, to include proper documentation;
  • Provide guidance and assistance to staff in the delivery of high quality programs and services;
  • Facilitate effective communication between staff and families in the resolution of issues or concerns;
  • Implement and monitor the consistent application of defined YWCA statements, policies and procedures;
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with and ongoing achievement of state licensing, NAEYC accreditation and school readiness standards;
  • Provide accurate and timely performance feedback and coaching to staff.
  • Identify and address performance improvement needs and/ or staff development plan;
  • Review and approval of staff time sheets, management of the site petty cash account, accounts receivable and payables;
  • Remain current with trends, developments and best practices within the field of child care and early childhood education;
  • Participate in training and other professional development activities to enhance knowledge and understanding of racial justice and woman's empowerment. Align programs and services both implicitly with mission of eliminating racism and empowering women.

Requirements

Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelors degree in early childhood education, psychology or related field; including a minimum of 12 credits in early childhood education
Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience in child development program including a minimum of 3 years in head teacher capacity;
  • Knowledge of state licensing an accreditation guidelines;
  • Prior experience in preparation and monitoring of operational budget;
  • Knowledge of and the ability to use Microsoft Office software application including Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.
  • Basic knowledge of the principles of Child Development;
  • Demonstrated ability to develop age appropriate exhibits and activities for the classroom;
Certification:
  • Certified CPR/First Aid certification or the ability to obtain certification within
  • CPR/First Aid certification or certification within two months of employment.
