Summary

The Program Director is responsible for the successful management of staff and facility operations for the program. This position serves as the family support specialist; a liaison between families, schools and community service resources to provide social and health support services to preschool students and family members who are eligible for the Early Childhood Education Assistance Program (ECEAP) and/or students with developmental handicaps.


Duties


Oversee the program curriculum. Plan and implement appropriate early childhood education experiences with a variety of materials in the fields of art, music, literature, science, etc. Work with TTDC teachers to implement the curriculum.

Supervise the program on an ongoing basis in the classroom. Observe and evaluate programs, act as a resource person for teachers, provide in-service training and workshops as needed for staff development, assist teachers with formal parent-teacher conferences, requirements and income level, determine tuition, place children, set starting dates.

Oversee staff management: recruit, hire, train, and provide on-going evaluation and support to all TTDC staff.

Recruit children in the community on a year-round basis.

Process applications, establish residency requirements and income level, determine tuition, place children, set starting dates, maintain maximum enrollment. Maintain records of children's starting dates, termination dates and vacations.

Screen applicants for Title XX and food program eligibility.

Maintain attendance and program records, in both paper files and computer-based systems. Maintain the child's records and data information.

Organize regular staff meetings. Plan and implement one staff training meeting each school year.

Train and observe classroom teachers. Plan and conduct weekly meeting for teachers and aides as needed.

Work with nutrition services ensure that the food program is meeting the nutritional needs of all children.

Organize and prepare a Center newsletter to be distributed monthly to parents and community agencies.

Partner with other agencies in the community.


Requirements
  • Associates Degree in Child Development; or a Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential with at least one year of experience working in a regulated childcare/preschool facility including at least six months of experience working in a childcare center
  • 2-3 years of childcare management experience with proven experience in recruitment and staff management
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and manage a budget and work with program grants
  • Background check
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Knowledgeable in basic computer skills
  • Sensitive, mature individual who relates well to children and adults
  • Proven management skills
