Summary
The Senior Payroll Tax Analyst is responsible for all payroll tax activities, including compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and filing local, state, and federal payroll tax returns. This position will guide the Payroll team’s calculation and reporting of tax liabilities, responds to questions and special requests from employees and regulatory agencies, researches laws and regulations regarding taxes and payroll withholding procedures, and may prepare budgets, projections, and special reports for management.
Job Responsibilities
Supply outsourced tax filing agency with inputs required to maintain federal, state and local tax files.
Advise management regarding the effects of business activities on taxes and on strategies for minimizing tax liabilities.
Resolve outstanding tax issues with federal, state and local agencies, including researching issues that may lead to amended returns, additional deposits and /or penatlies being assessed.
Perform ongoing analysis of HR/Payroll system to ensure system configuration complies with IRS, state and company requirements
Perform implementation and testing of tax setup and integrations
Prepare W2C documentation and provide explanations of high-level W2 inquires
Load and verify payroll data files
Partner with Treasury and Accounting to research and resolve banking issues and resolve open item bank reconciliations
Provide back-up assistance to Payroll Associates and assist with escalated customer service issues as needed
Assist the Payroll Supervisor with balancing and validating data from all sources regarding payroll processing and completion of year-end processes when needed.
Lead the day-to-day activities of Payroll Associates in the absence of the Payroll Supervisor.
Develop and maintain procedure documentation for payroll tax activities.
Perform other duties and contribute to special projects as required.
Basic Qualifications/Requirements/Skills
5 or more years Payroll Tax experience working in a multi-location, multi-state company
Workday Payroll background
Preferred Qualifications
CPP
Global payroll tax experience
Demonstrated experience managing outsourced tax preparers
