Job Description
The Opportunity:
The Senior Institutional Product Analyst within the Global Investment Product Team for the US-region, is a lead subject matter expert, project manager, and analytical support for all institutional product including Collective Investment Trusts (“CITs”) under the John Hancock Trust Company (“JHTC”), Model Portfolios, Separately Managed Accounts (“SMAs”), and LLCs.
This role will be a primary point of contact for senior business leaders and internal partners as a dedicated product resource expert. The analyst is responsible for: coordination and oversight for the various fiduciary structures for each Institutional Platform as well as in-depth performance, risk evaluation and other analytics to drive decision making on investment initiatives. The analyst is also the lead in ongoing evaluation of product competitive positioning, future business opportunities and various other analytics-based responsibilities.
Additionally, the analyst will take on a truly senior role within the Analytics team, mentoring and overseeing junior analysts. This responsibility includes training, oversight of regular reporting and coordination of projects.
Responsibilities:
Lead, coordinate and facilitate quarterly Board meetings for model portfolios and the JHTC
Assist in day-to-day responsibilities associated with and leading up to the administration of the various institutional platforms
Present to and help run regular quarterly Board meetings
Prepare, create, and disseminate materials to WAM stakeholders including Manager Research, Product, and legal entities
Ensuring data accessibility and accuracy for both existing and new accounts/product types across systems
Partner with outside groups to oversee external databases
Run regular meetings to review the main topics of discussion, including product performance, business opportunities, and product and business risk evaluations
Create and be responsible for dynamic competitive evaluation, oversight and reporting processes for institutional product
Create and maintain an institutional data package for the entire global team that incorporates relevant, up-to-date industry research
Competitive expense analysis, flows, assets, and other useful data metrics
Competitor research repository
Performance scorecard showcasing performance versus leading competitors in each asset class
Manage projects pertaining to Global Investment Product reporting, with a focus on navigating the nuances of institutional product and data comparability
Regular interaction with institutional clients in tandem with Sales to design and facilitate a distribution strategy for institutional product
Partner with internal teams to design, price and oversee the creation of new products
Regular coordination and work with Product Development, Compliance, Risk, Legal, Relationship Management, Fund Admin and US Retirements.
Evaluate new product ideas in relation to ongoing competitive analysis and through discussions with client facing personnel
Assist Manager Research with due diligence efforts including new manager searches and on-site interviews
Respond to queries, questions and provide investment commentary related to products as needed
Subject matter expert on latest investment product trends
Regular presentation of research and findings to senior management
Mentorship, training and oversight over the work of junior members on the team
Includes oversight over large scale projects and research of junior team members
Ad-hoc strategic projects, as assigned
Knowledge/Skills:
At least 8-12 years of applicable experience required
Bachelors Degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics
CFA/CAIA or CIMA preferred
Prior experience in investment management oversight required
Experience with Morningstar Direct and FactSet preferred
Experience working with retirement plans, model portfolios, CITs and/or SMAs preferred
Prior industry, capital markets and competitive positioning research for products and firms preferred
Independent and willingness to be primary subject matter expert for senior management
Ability to mentor, train and supervise junior members of the team
Strong project management experience preferred
Ability to work through complex problems with attention to detail and be flexible and dynamic in changing environments
Possess strong organizational skills
Convey information clearly and effectively through both verbal and written communication
Polished presentation skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while successfully multi-tasking and meeting team deadlines

Primary Location
Boston, MassachusettsSalary range is expected to be between

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training. Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance.
