Job Summary
This posting will be used to fill two (2) vacancies in, Contract Administration, MnDOT District 3A, Baxter.
NOTE: THIS POSTING REPRESENTS A MULTI-LEVEL POSTING. IF THIS POSITION IS NOT FILLED BY A QUALIFIED APPLICANT AT THE TRANSPORTATION GENERALIST SENIOR LEVEL, THE POSITION WILL BE FILLED AT THE TRANSPORTATION GENERALIST LEVEL.

Examples of work for this specific vacancy include but are not limited to:
Contract Administration: Under general supervision, an employee in this class performs moderately difficult duties related to Contract Administration (Roadway and/or Bridge Construction).
Surveys: Under general supervision, this position exists to perform daily, and routine work associated with land, location, construction and/or geodetic control surveys and creation of base maps to ensure accurate information and computation for the purpose of right of way, the design and construction of highways and other transportation systems or setting of accurate control points.
Snow and Ice: Assists in the maintenance and operation of snow and ice control to ensure safe and clear roadways (when shift splits); AND related work as required.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Transportation Generalist Senior
- One year of experience performing surveys (e.g., land, location. Construction, and/or geodetic control surveys, etc.), mapping or related activities.
AND
- One year of experience performing contract administration (roadway and/or bridge construction) activities or related activities.
- Note: A Two year Civil or Construction Technology Degree or the following four-year degrees: Architectural, Civil or Mechanical Engineering; Land Surveying / Geomatics; or equivalent may substitute for one year of experience. (In order for education coursework to be considered in lieu of work experience you must submit a copy of your transcripts).
- Working knowledge of English sufficient to read, write, speak, and understand oral and written information; communicate with employees and the public in-person or via two-way radio and other electronic devices; and to maintain routine written logs and simple records.
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with no air brake restriction and tanker endorsement.
Transportation Generalist
- Six months experience performing surveys (e.g., land, location. Construction, and/or geodetic control surveys, etc.), mapping or related activities.
AND
- Six months experience performing contract administration (roadway and/or bridge construction) activities or related activities.
- Note: A Two year Civil or Construction Technology Degree or the following four-year degrees: Architectural, Civil or Mechanical Engineering; Land Surveying / Geomatics; or equivalent may substitute for the one year (six months performing surveys & six months performing contract administration) of experience. (In order for education coursework to be considered in lieu of work experience you must submit a copy of your transcripts).
- Working knowledge of English sufficient to read, write, speak, and understand oral and written information; communicate with employees and the public in-person or via two-way radio and other electronic devices; and to maintain routine written logs and simple records.
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with no air brake restriction and tanker endorsement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous MnDOT experience working as a Laborer, Transportation Associate or Transportation Generalist
Additional Requirements
Job offers will be contingent on taking a computerized Math and Reading Assessment Test.
