Job Purpose:
Do you have experience in Ground-up Building and/or Public School Work K-12 and Colleges and are driven to better yourself as well as the companies goals? We would like to fill the position with someone looking for a long term career to help grow our company to the next level. Be able to read plans, specs and scope and find coverage for the job bidding, on their own as well as do takeoffs for self performance and estimate Ground-up jobs. The goal is for the person to ultimately manage the estimating department consisting of 4 people. Help manage the team in maintaining plans on our online plan room with Building Connected, send out Invitations to Bid electronically, help subcontractors during the bidding process, work Microsoft Excel during bid time, and assist with estimating. They need to represent our company timely & professionally through their customer service. Someone with professional appearance, friendly, and can have a conversation with ease.

We are a union General Contractor who has been serving Southern California for 45 years and is family owned. We do Public School Work, K-12 and Colleges. As well as being a General Contractor, we also self perform concrete, wood framing and window coverings.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Knowledge of bidding/estimating ground up projects
15 years combined Construction Field & Estimating Office Knowledge
Benefit if you know Concrete and Wood Framing
JOB DUTIES EXPECTED TO BE PERFORMED
Able to bid a job from the ground up, knowledge of all trades
Manage 4 other estimators, assign projects and work, ensure we're ready to bid the project on bid day for a timely submission
Read Scope for job bidding, and find sub coverage for bid day
Research products, help gather prices for unique products
Coordinate with subcontractors’ timely submission of quotes - Cold Calls
Organizing Plans & Specs files within file trees on network server (Using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Building Connected)
Editing PDF documents using Bluebeam
Client interactions, mostly phone (high call volume), sometimes cold-calling (need to be comfortable and sound confident on the phone)
Assist with bidding process by entering prices & contractors into Excel spreadsheet
Sending plans & specs and product data via Outlook email
Printing plans on a wide format printer
SKILLS / ABILITIES
Proficient Computer Skills: Excel (be able to create spreadsheets), Outlook, and Internet Based Databases

Organizational Skills
Follow-up skills – Imperative they don’t let things sit for days
Excellent communication skills, telephone etiquette (a lot of client interaction over the phone)
Client & Subcontractor Relationships
Knows how to make notes/document, so they don’t forget things
