How will you contribute to the team?
Reporting to the President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Vice President, Business Management is responsible to set the goals and objectives, as well as evaluate the effectiveness, of Business Management activities and operations to ensure accomplishment of CNL’s vision, mission and strategic priorities.
A focus on driving improvements across the organization by applying proactive and rigorous fundamentals to result in cost effective, efficient operation and executive of activities while maintaining compliance with all applicable Acts, Regulations, Codes and Standards.
The incumbent also provides oversight and guidance on Business Management’s interactions with its various internal and external stakeholders.
Further, the incumbent is responsible for promoting and enhancing Business Management’s value to the CNL customer and stakeholders.
Business Management consists of the following functions:
Corporate strategy and planning
Integrated Services
Prime Contracts
Program Management Office
Supply Chain
Information Management and Technology
Ensure the effective and efficient provision of Integrated Services, Information Technology services.
Information Management services, Project Controls and Project Management Office, Prime Contracts and Supply Chain services.
Set strategy for continuous improvement of policies, procedures, systems and staff capabilities.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with community stakeholders in order to build awareness, understanding, and support for company activities and operations.
Advise the CEO and the Board of Directors on business matters.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders in order to build awareness, understanding, and support for company activities and operations.
Provide overall strategic Business Management direction and leadership to the organization.
Chair the Enterprise Risk Management, Performance Management and Executive Review Team meetings.
Member of Executive Investment Board, Executive Strategy Board, Asset Management Committee and various priority project Executive Steering Committees.
Oversee the execution of the Business Continuity Program.
Lead major projects initiatives that are directly related to achieving the strategies of the business unit with a long-term focus.
Identify, define, and apply industry best practices as part of continuous business improvement.
Manage resources across multiple divisions and branches.
Develop organizational leaders, succession plans and career development plans.
Demands accountability and collaboration at all leadership and management levels, and cultivates energy, excitement and optimism while building a shared vision with others.
What will you contribute?
Bachelor of Business Administration or relevant experience.
Master of Business Administration preferred.
Requires critical thinking skills allowing for analysis of complex situations with ability to cut through to the key underlying principles and develop clear actions that comply with those principles.
Must have proven management and leadership skills and ability to operate in a multi-discipline functional style organization in a business-like manner, particularly to motivate and manage staff and managers to action.
Must be a self-starter, able to initiate and follow-through with change initiatives both on their own and by leveraging a matrixed team of staff within Business Management and across the organization.
Must be highly skilled at developing and maintaining exceptional client relationships; builds credibility and trust through consistently delivering on commitments.
Must have a clear understanding of many factors within such a complex organization, from strategic business-related matters, human resources, safety, nuclear and non-nuclear operations.
Must be able to prioritize and action multiple business issues.
Requires strong financial and business insight and abilities.
Must have ability to work with very broad direction and provide appropriate input to executive management in setting strategic direction.
Must have the ability to think strategically and globally to help ensure Business Management’s mandate is achieved and maximize opportunities to establish how Business Management services are delivered.
Must be an experienced leader with solid analytical and strategic planning skills, in addition to effective communication and influencing capabilities.
Mut have proven ability to drive organizational effectiveness, improve financial performance and provide sound, strategic consultation to the executive team.
Requires extensive grounding in the application of project management principles and practices at the senior project/portfolio manager level.
Requires robust knowledge of processes, techniques and applications for managing scope, cost, schedule and other key project parameters.
Must have demonstrated capability to build, lead, manage, organize and motivate a large, multi-disciplined team.
Must have proven experience in an executive role, with sound strategic planning, financial management and governance implementation capabilities.
Requires significant experience in transforming organizations with a strong leadership style and approach that increases performance, motivates individuals, achieves results and fosters teamwork across the organization.
Requires knowledge and understanding of a diverse set of functions with corporate and company-wide specific areas of responsibilities and accountabilities.
Must be capable of analyzing complex organization problems and issues, and of identifying appropriate causes and corrective actions.
Must have strong interpersonal skills to support leading a large and complex organization, to ensure stakeholder needs are understood and met, and to support interactions with external organizations, stakeholders, line leaders and staff across CNL.
Must have ability to obtain and maintain a Government of Canada Secret Level II security clearance.
Must have a clear understanding of many factors within such a complex organization, from strategic business-related matters, human resources, safety, nuclear and non-nuclear operations.
