Senior Data Scientist – C13 / VP

The ICG Documents Technology group is expanding its team to help Citi simplify and standardize the way the bank manages documents through automating critical processes and digitizing documents using Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, with a focus on Natural Language Processing (Classification, Extraction, etc.). Documents Technology is part of the Innovation Lab at Citi Information Services Group (ISG). The team is looking for an individual contributor who is talented, creative, and experienced data scientist, who will bridge between developer teams, business, product managers and stakeholders through requirements, backlog and planning to the highest standards - on time, on budget and with quality.

The Senior Data Scientist will help us discover information contained in vast streams of data, enabling us to make data-driven decisions and systems. Your primary focus will be in applying ML techniques, data analysis and data mining techniques in the training, testing and validation of models to be integrated into our DMC decision-making systems and processes.

You will work closely with product managers, program managers and team members to design, build and integrate solutions. A commitment to collaborative problem solving, solution design, creativity and product quality is essential.



Responsibilities:

  • Working across a range of ML disciplines and statistical analysis, with a focus on NLP

  • Model selection, training, testing and validation

  • Model visualization, demonstration and documentation, preferably as an interactive notebook for iteration and deployable code for applications

  • Work closely with product owners to develop client solutions for new and existing channels

  • Grow our catalogue of common assets, such as code templates, libraries, utilities, services, etc.

  • Interface with AI/ML vendors to assess their technology, comparison with internal tools and capabilities, and assessment of fit for purpose

  • Translate complex business problems into sound ML/DS-based solutions

  • Influence and negotiate with senior leaders (across functions); may communicate and negotiate with external parties.

Mandatory Skills

  • 5+ years of data science experience – experience with working with language models preferred
  • ent, requirements analysis, solution assessment and validation

  • Advanced applied statistical skills, including distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.

  • Excellent understanding of fundamental machine learning techniques and algorithms, such as Deep Learning, Layout-LM, Regression, Random Forests, etc

  • You are an excellent communicator, able to explain your solution workflow/ensemble in layman’s terms

  • Experience with common data science toolkits, with excellence in the SciPy.org stack (NumPy, SciPy, Matplotlib, Pandas, IPython, etc.) and Scikit-Learn highly desirable

  • Great working knowledge of Python is essential

  • Ability to discuss methods and techniques and respect opposing views

  • Experience in Gradient Boosting Machines, Bayesian Optimisation and Time Series Cross Validation ticks a lot of our boxes

  • Experience with data visualization tools, such as Matplotlib, D3.js, GGplot, etc.

  • You agree that verbal and written communication skills are vital

Education:

  • Master’s degree

  • PhD degree preferred
