The Data Engineer will play a vital technical contribution and leadership role in defining the direction and extending the dimensions of data solutions, standardizing integrations with business-critical systems and analytics environments, and supporting major transformational projects at WSFS. The incumbent is responsible for developing, deploying, and optimizing data integration patterns, controls, and provisioning while providing thought leadership for innovative solutions to standardization, data utility, BI enhancement and maturity, and enhanced application functionality. The incumbent will provide thought leadership and will collaborate with a team of technical staff supporting the maintenance, enhancement, and development of design patterns for enterprise data, including coordination with internal and external stakeholders for enhancing, extending, and evaluating current and future WSFS data capabilities. The Data Engineer is a hands-on role and will also lead the technical management and oversight of these systems, ensuring their successful execution and continued alignment to WSFS’s data management strategy.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Support enterprise data architecture and design efforts, and subject matter development, including reference architectures, data controls in support of governance guidelines, data standards and best practices.
  • Management of the ingestion and dissemination flows and technologies for enterprise data and other systems supporting or requiring enterprise conformity.
  • Management of the ETL/ELT systems, establishing and maintaining system policy, procedure, and review/revision requirements, and optimization.
  • Responsibility for the monitoring and management of critical imports and ingestion schedules from the systems of record, and the development and maintenance of exports to downstream systems and consuming applications. In addition, the engineer will help manage and provide for the ongoing support, enrichment, and consolidation of existing imports, data stores, archival, and integration processes.
  • Responsible for the enhancement of WSFS’s enterprise BI and analytics information design and ensuring that views and structures leveraged for reporting is optimal, accurate, efficient, and secure.
  • Participate in the management of data at the enterprise level, and support to the data governance program, reviews, and rhythms.
  • Establish and evolve data standards and processes to support the company's needs, and criteria for assessing and bringing new data technologies into WSFS.
  • Collaborate closely with the application owners, data stewards, and the technology, risk, and business members of the data governance committee to ensure alignment of enterprise data and master data management strategy.
  • Maintain and foster a collaborative relationship with business line and data consumers throughout the enterprise.
  • Interface with the lines of business, PMO, all levels of management, technical staff, vendors, and others with minimal supervision to achieve project goals and initiatives.
  • Work with lines of business to establish, organize and automate data acquisition and ingestion, testing and validation, and compliance guidelines and processes.
  • Collaborate with audit and governance teams to ensure that work meets internal and external inspection and audit requirements.
  • Lead efforts for developing/enhancing business data requirements, related functional requirements, testing and quality determinations, and data profiling and mapping efforts.
  • Assure compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal banking regulations.
  • Develop work plans and track/report the status of assigned projects/tasks.
  • Assist with or participate in special/strategic projects/initiatives, when necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or other related discipline or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in data technology and business intelligence systems. Prior banking and/or financial services industry experience is preferred.
  • Ability to develop, manage, and optimize SQL-based querying for use in BI and data exchange.
  • Must have skills and experience with analytics and BI platforms.
  • Familiarity with big data technology environments, Hadoop components, data wrangling/virtualization tools, and with data modeling and management tools.
  • Experience in Oracle environments, and with IBM Cognos.
  • Experience with data profiling and toolsets.
  • Experience with Cloud Architecture.
  • Experience with dimensional data modeling, star schema/snowflake schemas, and relational modeling.
  • Ability to identify trends and data and work with the lines of business to formulate findings into recommendations with solutions.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with all levels of management.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Experience with project management.
  • Industry-relevant experience is required.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft productivity tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
