Sr Computer Specialist

Job Purpose

This role provides user support and resolves issues with computer hardware, software, and peripherals. Meets with users and identifies their needs/problems, examines, and troubleshoots equipment and/or software, Performs upgrades, and discusses the extent of repairs or replacements to clients. This role also performs systems management and integration functions, improves existing computer systems, and reviews computer system capabilities, workflows, and schedule limitations. This role may focus on a specific aspect of the IT department such as applications, hardware or general technical support to the end user.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Installs, maintains and repairs software, hardware, and peripheral hardware and accessories. Expands or modifies system to serve new purposes or improve work flow. Performs upgrades, security maintenance, troubleshooting, training, and technical support for all users of the organization. Automates tasks and monitors their effectiveness.
  • Conducts requirements gathering sessions with users and management to establish agreements for new systems or modifications. Maintains record of problems and remedial action taken for root cause identification and cross training efforts. Implements solutions to complex applications problems, system administration issues, or network concerns. Serves as liaisons with internal departments, vendors, and other third-party providers. Resolves issues other tiers of support have escalated/transferred.
  • Provides excellent customer support 24x7x354 in an on-call rotation for the cloud and on-premises platform. Troubleshoots incidents, identifies root cause, fixes, documents problems, and implements preventive measures. Captures robust and relevant data to pass to another level support team if needed.
  • Stays knowledgeable of emerging trends and industry practices. Ensure compliance with IT standards and guidelines.

· Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, computers, virtual desktop, software distribution, server; and networking technologies.

· Excellent communication customer service and organizational skills.

· The ability to stay focused on completing tasks and meeting goals within a busy environment.

· Knowledge of Active Directory and group policies.

· Knowledge of common productivity software e.g.: Office 365, Outlook, Outlook mobile, One Drive, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, etc..

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Preferred

· Computer support Certifications e.g. CompTIA A+, Microsoft certifications.

· Knowledge in script development and scripting languages e.g.: PowerShell, Bash, and/or Python.
