About the Role:

The Senior Buyer will identify and pursue market opportunities that put Kalmbach in a competitive advantage position while weighing the risk and reward of the positions taken. The selected individual will set strategies that both support internal needs along with growing sales in this space. Primary Responsibilities:

• In conjunction with the VP of Purchasing, develop and implement Global Sourcing Strategy for a category of Micro Ingredients, with a specific focus on Amino Acids and Minerals.
• Establish expertise in all of the technical, economic and Macro Ingredient drivers of Amino Acids and Minerals.
• Identify, create and capture value by using category knowledge, market insights, historical trends and intuition.
• Lead supplier contact for strategic negotiations, and develop an appropriate sales and pricing strategy based on the market direction and company positions.
• Establish a good understanding and feeling of the market and demonstrate agility to decide best timing to price contracts thus creating a competitive advantage for Kalmbach in the marketplace.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key business partners who manufacture, distribute, and consume Amino Acids, Mineral, Vitamins and other Feed Additives to ensure long term competitiveness in the market.
• Communicate detailed, real time market trends and intelligence with appropriate audiences to support commercial approach to customer segment and competitive positioning.
• Solicit and harvest local feedback to incorporate into strategic negotiations.
• Manage Amino Acids and Mineral Pipelines to support sales and consumption while considering the strategic implications of being long or short given market direction and supply chain concerns.
• Write PO’s and schedule deliveries appropriately to ensure timely supply of raw materials.
• Lead supply chain improvements: identifying new ingredients, technology ideas and suppliers for your area of oversight. Gaining approval of new suppliers that will create value for Kalmbach.

The Right Candidate:

• Excellent written and verbal communications skills, as well as excellent listening, relationship management and negotiation skills.
• 3-5 years of experience of purchasing and supply chain experience, preferably in animal nutrition industry.
• Analytical skill for price history, trends and value opportunities
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks, meet deadlines and make decisions that impact business results.
• Demonstrate agile behavior and creative problem solving, attention to detail and organization skills.
• Self-motivated and driven to meet both individual goals and team goals.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related discipline and (or) equivalent relevant experience.
• Strong leadership skills: ability to set direction and execute on defined strategies
