Senior Brand Manager, Clear Start Job at Dermalogica LLC
Clear Start is Dermalogica’s global product line targeting Acne for Gen Z consumers. It started as a range for Founder Jane’s daughters, who were struggling with acne at the time. It is now a brand in its own right, focused on creating products that get rid of acne, without compromising young skin.
To increase focus and accelerate growth a separate team has been created which operates autonomously from the Dermalogica organization. This has created incredibly exciting results so far given the agility within the team to quickly create insights, test ideas, and push forward at pace.
We are now searching for a Senior Brand Manager to join the team, to drive the core business, build our brand awareness, as well as lead innovation. It’s the most senior role in the team, reporting directly to the Clear Start business leader. They will be responsible for devising the yearly marketing plans for the brand, to ensure we hit our stretching revenue goals, as well as leading the innovation funnel. The individual will take ownership of the key retail channel plans, with specific focus on US retailers Ulta, DTC and Amazon. They will also support our team lead in SEA, as Clear Start expands into Watsons, and continues to grow in Sephora. It’s a critical role on the team, one that requires both creative flair and commercial acumen.
The individual will have two direct reports, one to support the core, one to support product innovation. They will work closely with the social and community team members and our growth marketing manager to ensure campaigns look and feel consistent and are optimized for performance.
The position is based out of the Dermalogica corporate headquarters in Carson, CA with applicable hybrid back-to-work guidelines.
It is a highly entrepreneurial role in a dynamic and exciting team. We are looking for someone who is comfortable taking creative ideas and translating them into compelling brand campaigns. Who has their finger on the pulse of the latest trends to take into innovation. And who is comfortable using data and analytics to track progress, adjusting spend and priorities to where we see the biggest business impact.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop robust marketing plans and campaigns designed to drive the core and build Clear Start’s brand awareness. Working closely with the wider team to ensure there is brand consistency across creative executions on social, in-store, in paid media and other digital channels.
- Develop a complete product strategy and innovation roadmap for the brand, working with contract manufacturers and external partners to develop and source new acne products, both formulations, and packaging. The aim to is launch and support one key innovation each year.
- Understand what are the relevant consumer journeys, touchpoints and channels we should be acquiring Clear Start consumers through, and how that translates into full-funnel marketing plans
- Utilize data, reporting, and analytics to ensure that marketing activities have a high chance of success with a clear connection to sales performance.
- Experiment, hypothesize and test new ideas quickly and be prepared to fail fast in order to ensure the marketing direction is likely to succeed.
- Directly manage two marketing coordinators; one to support on core initiatives the other on production innovation.
- Take the lead working with key international markets to build their Clear Start plans and ensure they are leveraging relevant assets and campaigns to drive growth for the brand
- Develop Clear Start's retail strategy and work alongside internal retail account managers to build the business in-store, on DTC, and on Amazon
- Support the SEA marketing manager, specifically with the retail expansion into Watsons and driving growth in the existing retail channels (Sephora, Lazada)
- Develop compelling product performance claims using consumer and clinical studies as required
- Ensure legal and regulatory compliance across the portfolio in line with the appropriate regulatory consultants.
This job may involve participation in social media efforts, including employee’s participation in images, recordings, and posts.
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business or another relevant field
- 6+ years in business management, marketing or project management role
