Georgetown’s
O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law
was established in 2007 through the generous philanthropy of Linda and Timothy O’Neill to respond to the need for innovative solutions to the most pressing global health concerns. In bringing together experts from both the public health and legal fields, the O’Neill Institute reflects the importance of public and private law in health policy analysis.
Job Overview
The Senior Associate works on funded projects and/or academic research projects – including but not limited to the development of proposals and grant writing, scholarship and substantive project research. Generally:
  • Collaborates with the O’Neill Institute’s Project Directors, faculty members, and Associates to conduct short-term advanced research projects, including legal and policy research on relevant national and global health law - for example, public health law, international health regulations, and health and human rights
  • Participates in projects that involve legal and policy writing and presentations, as well as related conferences and events.
Work Interactions
Reporting directly to the Initiative Director, the Senior Associate provides limited supervision of Associates, Fellows, Research Assistants (RAs) and student research on relevant topics.
Qualifications
  • Doctorate, JD or JD/MPH
  • 4 to 8 years of health law and/or health policy experience, including some supervisory experience.
  • Familiarity with both domestic and international health law topics
  • Academic and working knowledge of research topics related to health law
  • Ability to operate professionally and maturely in interactions with academic and other stakeholders
  • Ability to work well as part of a small team, including leading and supervising staff and student work in a professional manner
Preferred qualification
Strong academic credentials, including publications
