Assists in research, organization, and communication of technical procedures, best practices, other related technical publications, and other industry information to I-CAR associates and inter industry representatives. Researches and assists in the development of technical procedures, publications, and course material for I CAR, vehicle, equipment, and/or product makers. Organizes material and completes writing assignments according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology. Assists the Director, Industry Technical Relations and the Director, Curriculum and Product Development in the development of research, testing, and product specifications. Participates in research and testing activities to establish best practices. Obtains and interprets information from collision industry sources to assist in development of material and videos for I-CAR. Provides technical support and acts as talent for video and photography of repair procedures and processes.

Primary Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Ask I-CAR – Researches and responds to technical inquiries, while stringently following established processes, providing timely responses, and avoiding responses to minimize potential liability exposure.
• Ask I-CAR – Provides OEM and/or I CAR best practices in support of technical inquiries.
• Technical Knowledge Portal – Develops technical articles, videos, podcasts, and other media to communicate collision repair technical information.
• Technical Knowledge Portal – Assists in evaluation and implementation of tools to be used to effectively communicate technical information to I-CAR customers, volunteers, instructors, etc. Coordinates distribution of technical information to I-CAR associates and instructors.
• Technical Knowledge Portal – Maintains and expands Restraint Systems Parts, Partial Part Replacement, Hybrid Disable, Calibration Requirements, and other I CAR Matrices. Assists in coordination, research, documentation, review, and distribution of technical information matrices.
• Technical Knowledge Portal – Actively monitors and updates I CAR Repairability Technical Support social media efforts, including responding to technical inquiries and input into technical inquiry database(s).
• Technical SME – Provides Subject Matter Expertise (SME) technical assistance to OEMs, other collision industry partners, and internally to I CAR associates.
• Technical SME – Supports technical research and surveys to obtain accurate, factual technical information from collision industry resources required for contract and cooperative agreement product development.
• Technical SME – Actively participates in I CAR research and testing activities in pursuit of gap closure and collision repair best practices.
• Technical SME – Conducts research to obtain accurate, factual information from worldwide collision industry sources, and interprets, organizes, and communicates this information to I-CAR associates to assist in addressing technical inquiries, the development of curriculum, and other material for I-CAR. Provides technical documentation as necessary to support I-CAR training content.
• Technical SME– Provides technical assistance to I-CAR Instructors and/or other collision industry affiliates.
• Technical SME– Provides technical documentation and support for in-house technical videos. Provides technical support and acts as talent, as required, for video and photography of repair procedures and processes.

Associate's degree (A.A.) or certificate in collision repair or vocational education desired. Three to five years prior work experience in some area of the collision industry desired. Experience as a technical writer, Instructional Designer, or Industry Trainer preferred.
