Job Summary:
JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Application Server Administrator plans and administers installation and configuration of the application servers independently. Provides support for system performance, security and reliability. Leads during the planning phase of new initiatives. Implements large/multiple development projects. Functions as lead on projects. May lead teams. Coaches development of other staff.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develops or configures programs to automate routine tasks.
  • Installs, maintains and administers application server environments.
  • Performs application deployments to pre-production and production environment.
  • Provides applications and projects with expert-level technical guidance.

TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES:

SERVER ADMINISTRATION (ADVANCED):- Demonstrates high levels of expertise in applying the skill in challenging and complex situations. Often takes a lead role in highly pressurized situations when there is a need to achieve results. Consistently delivers products and services using the skill in a creative and imaginative manner while setting a standard for others. Actively participates in outside professional organizations and forums.

SERVER INSTALLATION AND UPGRADE (INTERMEDIATE):- Has the ability to install software using vendor-supplied and company-developed procedures. Demonstrates the ability to use core utility programs in the installation and maintenance of systems. Demonstrates the ability to quickly analyze and resolve problems that may arise during a software installation. Demonstrates the ability to create and use complex utility programs to facilitate software installations.

SERVER MONITORING AND TUNING (ADVANCED):- Demonstrates high levels of expertise in applying performance metrics in challenging and complex situations regarding performance problems. Able to interpret performance information and make recommendations. Often takes a lead role in highly pressurized situations when there is a need to achieve results and researches metrics in new areas for potential use. Plans performance and stress tests.

SERVER SECURITY (INTERMEDIATE):- Has extensive knowledge of the components of security and is able to install security products and systems. Able to describe security practices to users and management. Demonstrates mastery of security in practical applications of a difficult nature. Possesses sufficient knowledge, training, and experience to be capable of successfully delivering security products and services without requiring support and instruction from others.
