Job Description
Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC), located in Reno, Nevada, is seeking applicants for a Senior Accountant.
The Senior Accountant will report to the Deputy Controller of Accounting Services and have primary responsibility for assisting with the configuration, maintenance, and operation of the transaction processing systems used by the Accounting Services department.
This position is also responsible for the accounting and maintenance of financial transactions, preparing account reconciliations and providing support for other Accounting Services staff. This position requires strong attention to detail.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in accounting or a related field.
2. Experience preparing complex account reconciliations and accounting entries.
3. Two years of experience in a related position, with at least one year of experience related to complex accounting systems/system integrations.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience in higher education.
2. At least one year experience configuring accounting and/or student information systems.
3. Supervisory or lead experience.
Responsibilities:
Candidates must exhibit an appreciation of, a sensitivity to, and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological and ethnic backgrounds.
1. Assist in managing data, business information, and reporting of information contained within the college financial systems.
2. Interact with fiscal users to define and understand information needs and report requirements as a function of business processes.
3. Understand the underlying data that is needed for business information reporting in collaboration with appropriate database or other support analyst, and /or subject matter experts.
4. Collaborate with IT services to implement changes to accounting systems needed to meet business and financial reporting requirements.
5. Test and validate system upgrades, patches and modifications.
6. Train end users of the college’s financial systems.
7. Process accounting transactions and prepare account reconciliations.
8. Understand and accept the role to be played as a partner in an educational enterprise serving the best interests of the students.
9. Perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with standards, mission, and goals of Truckee Meadows Community College.
10. Other duties as assigned.
Salary and Benefits Information:
Salary: $67,493 - $84,366 Initial placement will be dependent on education level and years of experience.
