Head Start Teacher

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES:

Responsible for the successful implementation of the Head Start program, to insure that children are prepared for early school success.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assure the provision of high quality early education programs.
• Works with all staff, families and children in a kind, respectful, and cooperative manner.
• Advocates for and assures the appropriateness of programming for children and families in all areas.
• Maintains professional boundaries with families and with other staff.
• Support families by collaborating with agency staff to provide information and/or support on any issues observed or raised by families, including to make referrals when families or community people need assistance.
• Complies with laws, regulations, rules, as well as agency policies and procedures
• Plans and Implements procedures that will assure that the program meets all requirements of funders and regulatory agencies, including but not limited to: Fully implements the curriculum
• Completes tasks such as recording observations of children and other reports accurately and on time
• Participates as a member of the education team and in shared decision making, implementation of agency policies and procedures, to solve problems, to improve quality, and to assure staff success.
• Advocates for the families and children of the program and community.
• Implements the coaching program reliably, including documentation of efforts as well as annual performance reviews and other appropriate documents.
• Assures quality implementation of the educational program.
• Identifies and completes additional tasks.
• Completes required training and implements learnings in classroom.
• Works as a partner with families

QUALIFICATIONS

• GED or High School Diploma,

AA preferred and required within 3 years of hire

• 18 years of age or older
• U.S. citizen or legally able to work in the US
• Pass required drug testing
• Pass all required background checks
• Completes the employee medical examination

Experience:

• Early Childhood General Education Teachers: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• CPR Certification (Preferred)
• Child Development Associate Certification (Preferred)
