PURPOSE

The role of Safety Manager is a critical component for reaching company safety objectives at all levels. Our employees, contractors, vendors, customers and visitors are our responsibility. The Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring that there are processes in place to ensure their safety.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide comprehensive new hire training
  • Training resources provided for all employees (hourly and salary)
  • All incidents investigated and corrective action items completed per policy
  • Manage incidents to ensure that employees receive proper care while managing costs
  • Safety Work order tracking
  • Regulatory compliance audits
  • Hazard Audits conducted
  • Maintain a functioning Safety Committee
  • Manage safety process to accomplish safety goals and targetsEnsure employee safety

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EDUCATION

  • College degree in a relevant field is preferred, or equivalent professional experience
  • Relevant manufacturing and previous supervisory experience preferred, as well as experience managing and monitoring safety
  • OSHA certifications preferred
  • Board Of Certified Safety Professionals certifications preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

The physical demands and work environment are representative of a typical mill environment. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. Noise level is moderate to high depending on the area of the mill. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand; walk; sit; use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, use tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. Requires close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Minimal travel.
