We are in search of a Safety and Compliance Coordinator to join our team at our Groveport, OH facility. They will support the facility by coordinating the company’s safety programs to ensure compliance with all Federal and State OSHA regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Under the supervision of the Safety & Compliance Manager, coordinates Company directed safety activities in the areas of program and policy implementation and updates for site.
- Reduces the number and severity of accidents through implementation of safety programs, OSHA compliance of equipment and associate behavior through awareness safety training.
- Assists in incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- Partners with Human Resources and management to schedule and conduct safety training to ensure completion of required trainings.
- Ensures accurate and timely accident reporting for both OSHA and Company purposes. Completes department follow-up as needed to ensure timely completion. Conducts accident investigations and root cause analysis as needed.
- As the plant safety representative, maintains professional internal working relationships as well as with customers, 3rd party auditors, state and federal agencies and acts as a Company’s liaison with these organizations.
- Lead and facilitate monthly safety committee meetings and communicate and note findings to all levels of the plant. Monitor findings to ensure a corrective action has been implemented to avoid recurrence.
- Monitor Personal Protective Equipment inventory and purchases (boots, safety shoe program, safety glasses) and other PPE as deemed necessary
- Conducts internal plant audits in coordination with department and plant management.
- Participates in safety related inspections (i.e. OSHA, State Fire Marshal, etc.).
- Coordinates facility emergency evacuations and participates in emergency planning.
- Participates in new equipment and process implementation to ensure safety compliance.
- Promotes and reinforces a culture that reflects an attitude and value for the safety of all associates in partnership with facility managers and supervisors.
- Assists Human Resources in the coordination of Workers’ Compensation programs.
- Participates in development of annual safety strategic plan establishing goals, programs and measurements under the direction of the Director of Environmental Health and Safety and with the input of departmental managers for site specific planning.
- Assists management with the coordination of Company industrial hygiene programs to ensure compliance and necessary training.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or equivalent required, and one to two years of related safety experience and/or training are required; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor or Associate/Technical degree and experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment preferred.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Strong knowledge of Federal and State OSHA regulations and compliance procedures.
- Experience coordinating plant Health and Safety compliance and training programs.
- Fluency in Spanish is preferred.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and processes while partnering with corporate and facility management groups.
