Summary

The RTI Furnace Operator will work with a furnace that is used to temper and produce glass. The furnace transforms the glass so that it is highly resistant to breakage when handled properly.

This position is exclusively on our overnight (3rd) shift, starting at 11pm, Monday - Friday. Due to this shift, there is an extra $2 per hour applied as a shift differential.

Here’s What You’ll Get To Do

• Lift and arrange glass on/off conveyor
• Read and understand blueprints
• Read and process work orders by due dates provided
• Work with a partner to properly and safely load and unload glass from machine
• Use a computer system to input the proper operation for the glass tempering and enter the operation into production system
• Complete daily worksheets and forms
• Inspect all glass for defects such as chips, bubbles, scratches, blown holes, proper edgework, etc.
• Ensure the machines and tools are in good working order and perform daily cleaning as needed
• Work safely and adhere to all safety policies and procedures

• Ability to read and use a tape measure
• Ability to read and perform calculations and measurements with numbers, fractions and decimals
• Ability to wear several items of personal protective equipment to work with glass
• Detail-oriented and self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to stand, lift, bend, twist, walk, push, pull, and reach frequently
• Must be able to perform heavy work, lifting and moving material that can weigh up to 75 pounds on a frequent basis
• Must be able to work in an environment that is not climate controlled (protection from the weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes)
• Must have close visual acuity to perform assigned tasks, such as reading work orders and shipping labels, and inspecting, and packaging material
