The primary responsibility of the Roll Off Driver is to independently or as a team operate a Roll Off truck by moving material to and from designated areas at the jobsite location.

KEY FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Roll Off Truck Driver

  • Operates truck equipped with dump body to transport and dump loose materials, such as sand, soil, rock, gravel, coal, ore, industrial byproducts and other such materials.
  • Pulls levers or turns crank to tilt body and dump contents.
  • Move hand and foot controls to move truck forward and backward to loosen and dump material adhering to dump bed body.
  • May be designated according to type of material hauled, type of truck driven, and whether for on road or off-highway projects.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

· This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Must have the ability to drive an automatic truck.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and process documents such as operating and maintenance manuals, scheduling charts, policy and procedure manuals, repair records, and equipment performance handbooks.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with coworkers, leaders, customers and third party vendors.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out work in written, verbal, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situation.
  • Knowledge of EPA, state EPA, DOT, OSHA, MSHA and other related state and federal regulations.
  • Must be able to maintain acceptable attendance standards per employee handbook.
  • Ability to use email, smart phone, tablet or computer to manage company information and documents.

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1 year of experience in a civil, mining or pulp and paper preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration.
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures– hot and cold.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Sits: Frequently 2.5 - 5.5 hours daily
  • Stands: Frequently 2.5 - 5.5 hours daily
  • Walks: Frequently 2.5 - 5.5 hours daily
  • Drive: Continuously 5.5 - 8 hours daily
  • Lift/Carry 0-10 lbs.: Continuously 5.5 - 8 hours daily
  • Lift/Carry 10-50 lbs.: Occasionally .25 - 2.5 hours daily
  • Reach Above: Frequently 2.5 - 5.5 hours daily
  • Bend/Stoop: Frequently 2.5 - 5.5 hours daily
  • Use Hands for Manipulations: Continuously 5.5 - 8 hours daily
  • Vision Abilities: Close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Valid State Issued Class A CDL Driver’s License preferred, but not required.
