Job Summary – Retail Manager
The Retail Manager is a key member of the management team and is responsible for managing the retail store and its influence on the overall brand. This position will work directly with the marketing team and vendors to ensure goals and objectives are achieved via branded apparel and accessories. The initial focus is to build a small team of well-versed staff who understand our products and how to sell. Job Duties and Essential Responsibilities:
- Develop, train, and inspire retail sales associates to communicate a consistent message to all guests
- Direct and oversee recruitment and development of employees; hire, train, empower, coach and counsel, performance reviews, resolve conflict through fair treatment policy, and discipline and terminate, as appropriate
- Manage store point of sale system and control inventory levels
- Monitor budget, labor, P&L of retail department
- Assist Guest Service department in overseeing ticketing and check-in and ensure accuracy within all transactions through the point-of-sale system
- Design, develop, and implement the standard operating procedures for the department dictated by the layout of the facility
- Organize, develop, schedule, and supervise day to day store operations
- Assume the responsibilities of the Operations Director or General Manager in his/her absence, as needed
- Fill in where needed to ensure overall guest service standards and efficient operations are being met
- Remain constantly aware of customer activity to ensure a safe and secure environment for all guests on site
- Collaborate with peers and management in order to continually develop staffing efficiencies and activity throughput while adhering to the highest level of guest experience and safety standards
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years retail store management experience in outdoor retail/equipment industry
- Previous experience in sports, entertainment, or the outdoor recreation industry strongly preferred
- Previous experience with training staff and ensuring a proper checkout process
- Able to communicate effectively in a professional manner with co-workers, employees, management, subordinates, vendors, and guests
- Teamwork mentality is an absolute must-have
- Good oral communication skills and ability to speak in front of large and small groups
Physical Demands
- Must be able to work in an outdoor environment where climate constantly changes
- Must be able to work an eight hour shift and lift up to 30 pounds
- Must be able to work at a fast pace and in stressful situations
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays, as expected in a recreation/tourism based management position
