Daily tasks to include handling of many plant species growing in vertical growth chambers. Operating automated bench movement system to retrieve plant material that is ready for delivery to greenhouse or to be thinned/transplanted from chambers. Working closely with a larger team to complete daily operations. Working directly with seeding lab employees to load all new plantings for the day, into the chambers with automated system. Fast moving environment due to plant material needed for research testing. Must be able to stand for long periods of time and possess acute attention to detail.

• Candidates must have a proven work ethic that demonstrates an ability to work independently and focus on completing tasks while understanding their role within the larger group.
• Candidates are expected to take ownership of given tasks and complete them by deadline with great attention to detail. This position is not for a candidate that requires a lot of ongoing guidance.
• Candidate must be a self starter and follow daily assignments from scheduling tool.
• Candidate must be able to focus on/or be aware of multiple tasks at a time and understand that we have daily deadlines that must be met.
• Candidate must be able to withstand work in propagation rooms with temperatures between 73-85F as well as greenhouses with temperatures between 85-100F.
• Must be able to tolerate working in environments with presence of pollen, molds, mildews, soil, insects, plant debris. Must be patient and able to concentrate on meticulous work tasks without supervision.
• Must have attitude that demonstrates commitment to safety for self, others, and the environment.
• Must be reliable, have a strong work ethic, be self-motivated, possess strong organizational and time management skills. Must have ability to read, understand and follow SOP’s that are required for work and follow required research protocols.
• Must be detail oriented: Able to discern (with training) when plants/propagation rooms/greenhouses are outside of normal/expected parameters. Take initiative. Be aware of work area and report anything that is out of the ordinary quickly. Must communicate any concerns to task leader promptly and clearly.
• Must exhibit good interpersonal skills: Be respectful, helpful and have a considerate attitude toward coworkers), willing to learn from others. Must be able to coexist with diverse personalities and people of different perspectives.
• Must have some basic computer skills to input data and work with databases (training will be provided).
• Must be flexible with work duties on a day-to-day basis due to group demands and coverage of areas as needed in ever-changing work environment.
• Must be able to accept constructive criticisms with open mind.
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
• Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
• Have a demonstrated work ethic, even if work is not glamorous.
