Uplifting Deals is a local wholesale and retail merchandiser. Our warehouse operations are located off Louisiana Avenue in Asheville.

We have a Sort Manager's Assistant position available in our warehouse where we sort, price and prep products for sale. We are looking for someone with strong leadership and communication skills, experience picking orders and sorting items, as well as palletizing product. The purpose for this position is to learn the role of and train an individual to become Sort Team Manager (a salaried position).

We look products up online on various marketplaces and use that info to gain knowledge about some of the many varying products that we come across that need to be priced. The job also includes moving and building pallets, general warehouse, picking retail store orders, logging work performed and related data, managing the rest of the crew, and taking direction from other team members*.

This position is part of a team that works closely together. The environment is laid back yet very physically active.

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the day.

This position reports directly to the Operations Manager.

Compensation and Benefits:

• Starting Hourly Rate from $18.00/hour based on experience, 90 day review of work performance.
• Paid time off after six months of employment.

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Forklift Certification not required but preferred - If the company requests certification, training will be provided at company cost.

Warehouse Skills:

• Time management and punctuality (personal and for the crew)
• Pricing items for retail locations
• Palletizing product and building truck loads
• Sorting and grading products
• Checking and dating products
• Identifying product for appropriate sales channels
• Allocating and managing Departmental inventory
• Back-stocking seasonal products
• Picking and staging Weekly store orders
• Maintaining efficient work flow procedures
• Coordinating weekly Trash disposal
• Ensuring that Store Deliveries occur accurately and on schedule
• Coordinating Cardboard removal schedule
• Maintaining an efficient and cleanly work environment
• Team Scheduling and timecard approval
• Documenting Team performance (both positive and negative), product cost and transfers, and inventory stock location updates
• Entering products sorted into retail inventory for approval by the Inventory Manager
• Multitasking to address multiple concerns while effectively leading
• Monthly store visits to see the results of the collaboration
• Open to ongoing innovation within the company
• Create and deploy proper signage to help coach the team and mark pallets/areas

Position Requirements:

• A Take-Charge attitude with impeccable attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines
• Proficient clerical skills (Good on a computer, quick with emails, data entry, google sheets, resize, copy, edit, simple formulas) G-Suite, Square, Slack, Xero,
• Current Forklift Certification
• At least 3 years of experience in Warehouse Management
• Lift in excess of 50 LBS repetitively throughout the day
• Strong work ethic
• Strives for efficiency, yet shows understanding even when this involves interrupting others’ habits
• Team-player mentality is crucial to the role
• Ability to command a small crew of up to 8 individuals
• Operate a conveyor and direct a sort team in best practices for efficiency
• Maintain an organized Freezer space for product staging, order picking, inventory control, and reordering
• Price items for stores based on multiple different pricing techniques
• Identify when there is too much of an item backstocked so as to move it to wholesale before the dating impairs the saleability of the item
• Able to notice stranded inventory and take measured to find a channel to move it
• Ethical conduct - no side-hustle that turns into a conflict of interest

*May require extended hours beyond the regular crew shift*
