Job Description:
The Meadows Center for Preventing Educational Risk (MCPER) at The University of Texas is currently looking for individuals to serve as part-time reading tutors. You will be part of a team that works with middle school struggling readers, within Crowley ISD. The start dates for these positions will begin as soon as January 6th and will last into mid-May with interventions taking place during the school day (8:00am-3:45pm), approx 4x a week. Teachers with experience providing interventions are strongly encouraged to apply.
Job Details:
This is a part-time, hourly position with the potential to work up to 19 hours a week.
Responsibilities:
· Conduct a series of assessments with students during pre- and post-testing periods
· Provide daily instruction to middle school students to help them improve their reading
· Work collaboratively with members of the research team and school partners
· Document and monitor project activities as assigned, and complete required general administrative tasks
- Be trained to provide accurate assessment administration as well as high-quality instruction using materials developed by the research team (paid training)
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree with at least two years of prior experience working with children. Must have a personal and reliable vehicle for travel to schools. Ability to commit to the full project period (January 6th-mid-May). Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Teacher Certification
· Prior experience providing intervention to students with reading difficulties
Pay:
$25 per hour, up to 19 hours a week
