Role Overview
Perform inspections, checks and tests on incoming parts, sub-assemblies, and finished goods.Proactively identify and document quality issues, take appropriate action and elevate if required to resolve.Support internal and external customers regarding product, inspection, and quality issues. Responsible for specific quality programs as assigned. Support the company-wide ISO quality and continuous improvement (Lean-Kaizen) programs.Record quality and process observations; complete inspection reports and other documentation.Maintain department files and records.
Additionally, this position performs the calibration of test and measurement equipment and coordinates the collection and pick-up/shipment of equipment needed to be calibrated externally.
**Work Location:**Onsite - Farmington, CT
Key Responsibilities
Work from drawings and specifications to set up and perform incoming, in process, cosmetic, and final inspections on vendor and in-house parts; sub-assemblies; and finished products.Utilize inspection tools, including Calipers, Micrometers, Gage Pins, Height Gages, Optical Comparators, CMM, and other specialized equipment.
Record observations in a thorough and accurate manner.Complete all inspection documentation, including technical reports as required. Maintain department files and records both in hard copy form and electronically, including in JDE (Farmington’s ERP system).Utilize Quality software programs to record and manage non-conformities and corrective actions.
Effectively communicates identified non-conformance issues to the appropriate personnel
Initiates Nonconforming Material Reports as needed
Assist Quality Engineer with measurements in accordance with Measuring Systems Analysis plan and Gage R&R plan.
Conducts system and product audits as needed
Maintain the quality work areas in a safe, clean, and organized (6S) manner. Properly maintain all department tools and equipment.Perform certain maintenance and calibration duties as specified.
Completes measuring equipment calibration in accordance with released procedures, as assigned
Participate in all provided HSE training.
Recognize and report hazards.
Continually seek ways to improve personal performance related to Health, Safety and Environmental protection.
Critical Competencies for Success
High school diploma or equivalent.
Prior quality inspection experience or 3 years previous mechanical assembly, precision machining or related experiences
Familiar with dimensional measuring equipment including Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), digital Calipers, Micrometers, Height Gages, Thread Gages, Optical Comparator, and other specialized equipment.
Proficient knowledge of blueprint reading (including GDT), gauging, tooling, and metrology.
Knowledge in SPC, ISO 9000 and gauge calibration.
Acute attention to detail with a commitment to excellence and high standards.
Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)
Excellent verbal, listening, application and written communication skills.
Certified IPC-A-610 and/or IPC/WHMA-A-620 preferred.
