Job Purpose:

This position is responsible performing functions associated with quality control and quality assurance operations. The primary activity of this position is performing inspections of printed circuit board and electronic assemblies to confirm conformance to drawings, applicable industry standards, purchase orders and other customer requirements


Nature of Duties:


  • Performing product inspections per internal, customer, and industry requirements as assigned based on training and experience. This may include:
    • Visual inspection of printed circuit board assemblies using 10X – 40X scopes and vision system prior to shipment.
    • Visual inspection of printed circuit board fabs for manufacturing defects prior to releasing for production.
    • Visual and Dimensional inspection in support of internal assembly operations to verify conformance to requirements using check sheets and hand gages.
  • Recording and maintaining logs of type and number of defects. Communicating findings to production team members, engineers, and management.
  • Performing First Article Inspections and creating report of findings.
  • Preparing NCR’s to document defects in accordance with facility requirements.
  • Separating rejected parts and assemblies and identifying defect locations on the assembly.
  • Performing audits and familiarizing employees with established processes, policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Creating inspection check sheets and inspection test plans based on drawing and procedure requirements.

Non-essential functions and duties:

  • Initiating and participating in continuous improvement processes.
  • Following the safety procedures of the organization.
  • Following the 5S procedures for work area.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • High School degree or GED
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of quality experience
  • Read and understand drawings and purchase order requirements
  • Must have the basic knowledge and experience with computers to include the use of word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software
  • Requires excellent attention to detail.
  • Requires good time management skills with the ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Experience inspecting PCB assemblies and in the application of IPC-610 class 3 requirements. Prefer previously certified to IPC-610.
  • Experience inspecting electronic assemblies and in the application of IPC-620 Class 3 requirements. Prefer previously certified to IPC-620.
  • Ability to keep accurate records.
  • Ability to follow documented procedures and standard.
  • Ability to read and understand customer specifications from drawings, purchase orders, and process standards

Language skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret training documents, safety rules, procedural documents, and blueprints.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings and purchase order requirements.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills both verbal and written.
  • Work requires a good command of the English language

Reasoning ability:

  • The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  • The ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
