Position Overview
Reporting to the Quality Supervisor/Assistant Manager, the Quality Control Inspector is responsible for the application of quality inspection requirements, to follow general instructions, complex drawings, machine manuals, special instructions, and standard inspection methods and procedures for selection of characteristics required for inspection. Individual(s) must be able to prioritize tasks and be able to multitask as needed..
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Review part drawings for specifications, select starting points, and correlate with Manufacturing Engineering on more difficult inspection and any required validation.
- Make all necessary mathematical calculations, use precision measuring equipment such as surface plate, rotary head, etc…, to perform first-piece inspection on a variety of parts and to verify programs for inspection use.
- Occasionally advise and work with Manufacturing and Manufacturing Engineering concerning discrepancies of parts not meeting required specifications and quality control standards.
- Finalize inspection results and complete all paperwork as required.
- Perform other related inspection duties as directed and refer only unusual or recurring problems to Inspector/Programmer A/B, Working Leader, or Supervisor.

- Maintain an orderly work area and set a daily cleanup schedule
- Maintain and encourage all 6s Lean activities
- Promote product safety by properly handling products
- Be aware of counterfeit product and report suspected product when identified
- Observe company policy, safety and security procedures.
- Perform all activities in conformance with the UTD Quality System and ISO procedures.
- Comply with all company and department housekeeping and safety rules. Report any violations or safety concerns to management promptly.
Experience and Skills:
- Responsible for carrying out final inspection requirements for all assigned products through the use of documented inspection criteria.
- Responsible for carrying out incoming inspection of designated materials and tooling.
- Responsible for record retention for all inspection paperwork and if applicable associated samples.
- Responsible for certificate of conformance quality sign offs.
- When required will assist with complaint investigations.
- Responsible for compliance to all applicable quality systems guidelines.
- Will perform other tasks as assigned by quality system engineer or director QA / technical services.
- Ability to use advanced shop mathematics, including algebra and trigonometry and interpret complex part drawings and specifications.
- Work well with groups in problem solving situations.
- Ability to communicate well in written, electronic and verbal forms of communication.
- Maintain professional and ethical behavior in all situations and maintain confidentiality.
- Knowledge of the ERP system, Email, and Spreadsheet software
Physical demands:
- Shop Floor environment / shared workbench or workstation
- Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time
- Ability to perform repetitive motion (rotating wrists, keyboarding, using small/large tools)
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to tolerate constant noise (machine motors)
- Ability to work safely in the presence of hazardous chemicals and hazardous conditions
- Ability to follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required
- Vision abilities including close vision and the ability to adjust focus
Experience/Education Minimum Requirements:
- High school degree or G.E.D., any quality certifications or training a plus or equivalent experience (minimum 1 year of experience as Quality Control Inspector in the Aerospace industry or 3 years in an industry certified with a Quality Management System.
- Basic understanding of the principles and practices of quality inspection and lean manufacturing.
- Good reading and writing skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Very good communication and people skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Must be able to function in a fast paced manufacturing environment.

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
